Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Re: Night Shift

I love the chook thing @Silenus - around here if the chook actually got through her multiple layer labour her egg might wash away - but let me look

Oh yes - I remember letting the cat out and let the cat in again - and she came in with wet fur

We had heavy rain last night and when I woke up this morning - after a sunny day - the girl who hung my washing out for me had warned me the weather might change - and it did - but I got home from the doctor after dark - I think the sun is setting as early has it is going to - 5.07 pm - and it had not started to rain here - but it did

And maybe the rain cleared the air because I feel better than I have for most of the week

But if you want to exercise you OCD - I have stuff that I keep putting off around here - but I am looking around - and the piles of paper are not clutter although they look like it - it's all the filing that accumulates - and there is the washing I rescued last night airing and I had better cook a decent meal tonight

I love the chook thing - thanks for a good laugh

Haven't been keeping up with all the messages on this thread lately but reading most of them even if I can't always find the energy to reply.

@Decadian, thanks so much for your support and kind words regarding the email to the psychologist. As you wisely say, whether it will lead to a a breakthrough with her or a break with her, at least we will now have clear some of what needs to be discussed at the next session.

Hi @Shaz51, it feels like it's ages since we've exchanged some words. Sending you and hubby:

@Faith-and-Hope, @Former-Member, @PeppiPatty, @Appleblossom, @Jacques, @Former-Member and anyone else I haven't chatted to much recently, sending good vibes and hugs where needed or wanted.

The wind and rain have eased a little here after about 18 hours of it non-stop. Have slept a good part of today and haven't done anything aside dress, wash myself, make the bed and read and post once or twice here on the forum. I was watching 'Black Beauty' on free TV but it's too sad to continue with, even though I know it has a happy ending. It was one of my favorite books when I was a child. So just listening to ABC chill radio on the telly for now. Still managing to cut down on the smoking week by week, which is a plus, but it is taking it out of me a fair bit to do it. At least the gradual reduction method makes it possible in a way that cold turkey never has been for me. And it will be worth it in the end. 🙂

Sending warm wishes out to @Angels333 and @Shaz51. I'm having a do nothing afternoon and just catching up on the forums.

My garden is overdue for weeding @Angels333 but I just don't want to do it today. Too hot here. Maybe tomorrow morning when it's cool. Hopefully your flu has cleared up by now.

Hoping you and hubby are doing ok @Shaz51. Haven't heard from you for a while.

Re: Night Shift

@Shaz51, I know it's a daily struggle for you and hubby. Such a pity he has cut off mental health support. I guess he's just seeing the GP now. Is there any possibility of him retiring from work yet? That might improve things on the anxiety level. Always sending you both best wishes, whatever is happening.

This is what the rain has done at a park near our place. No flooding at our block of flats luckily...

Re: Night Shift

Oh wow @Mazarita !

You could go fishing in your local park ❣

There's a memory for you ....... you don't see that every day !

We had a massive hail-storm through here a few years ago that wrecked our house a lot with water damage, and we ended up moving because it was too much to live in and repair. The park across the road from us was under water for about an hour, but only to ankle deep ....... Looks like you could swim in yours !

There are still cars driving around here that look like they have spent a week sitting in the middle of a golf course, from all the big hailstones in that storm. The silver lining was that a lot of Uni students got to buy cheap cars that all the car-yards sold off afterwards at bargain basement prices. They were mechanically new cars, just needed the body work repaired - or not ..... still a lot driving around "in full character". 😊
