Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Re: Night Shift

Sorry to hear that @BlueBay. Is your headache gone at least? Did you manage to decide yet about taking some time and going to hospital? (saw your post from late yesterday in Hospital or not just now)

I had a rough night here too. Another DV fight next door (called police but they didn't talk to me when they came) which left me really on edge and hypervigilant again, bouncing up off the bed every time I heard anything.

Re: Night Shift

Headache gone. Probably come back again with all the sobbing. I'll try to call my psych today. I feel like I'm losing it.
That's no good reg your neighbours. Must be scary. I hope you can rest up today. It's horrible been on edge all night. Take care @eth. Xxx

Re: Night Shift

Seems like making that call might be a good idea @BlueBay. It could also be that you are having side effects from the recent shift with your meds, but things have been difficult for you for a while now and a respite in hospital might be really helpful. You can decide with your psychiatrist.

I think what you've been doing with visualizing the new home you can create if you downsize is really positive. Once when I was looking for a new home I sat down and drew a picture of what I hoped for. The next day I found exactly that.

I've had less than 4 hrs sleep @BlueBay so I'm going to try to have a nap. Hoping things work out ok for you today.

Hi @BlueBay

I read about your headache yesterday but I lacked the time to do much on-line - it took ages to reset my computer but here I am now.

A trip into a private cllnic might be a good move right now - honestly - I would not suggest this if I was not really concerned - from what I am reading life is becoming very challenging for you - and a few days rest might make one hell of a difference -

You must be so tired 😞 - how I wish I could say more that would help - I have been chatting away with you for a few weeks now and I think you are doing the best you can

HI @eth

I imagine that your DV call last night meast Domestic Violence. It's better that the police didn't come and see you - whoever was having that wonderful time are people you don't want to have in your life - and if the police came and saw you then those people would know you called them.

I lived in a high density area before I moved here - (which is very safe) - there were rows and rowdy parties all the time - and I lived on the edge until I could move here.

It is so unpleasant having fights going on around you - no wonder you were bouncing out of your bed for the rest of the night. Are you living in flats or units that are close together? If so - if anyone gets the idea you ring the police once - you will be blamed for all the calls - and more than one person will be ringing them - that's for sure.

Where I live now is quiet - though people share their music from time to time - thank goodness we can have a DVD so we can block out other people's noise - but domestic violence is a worse problem.

I hope you are safe though - and you can have some peace

It's good that you are staying in touch with us @Jacques

@Please remember to be taking some time for yourself in all this, even if it's a short walk every now and then. Just turn your attention to something else here and there to rest your mind and emotions a little. Short breaks are better than nothing @Jacques. It's so important for you.

Hugs 💚

Re: Night Shift

Thank you so much for reaching out to me @Faith-and-Hope, i am so humbled you think of me and ask how i am doing, i am trying to take time out, but i struggle to as the two friends seem to take up most of my time, one friend last night had their parent tell them to go ahead and do it, how can a parent be so cruel, i was so upset with the lack fo support some families give.

sorry just venting, i am going to play some games now, thank you once again for your kindness and thoughts.

Re: Night Shift

Hi @BlueBay

@I hope you are feeling a little better this morning. We all need our healing sleep, even if it's coming to us in small pieces.

Small pieces can make very beautiful jig-saw puzzles, if we just keep joining a few together here and there ...

Have you been back to the therapy sessions where you worked with the coloured balls ? You found some support there that day, including a warm hug. That is out-patient therapy isn't it ?

I hope you get to a walk in the beach today.

Re: Night Shift

It's okay to vent @Jacques. That is part of what the forums are here for, and yes, it is so sad when families don't offer support, but they are poorer for it. Your love and can is being invested in changing the cycle in those families. Your friends are receiving love and support from somewhere - you - and I hope that attracts more love and support for them. Even you telling us that they are struggling has the flow-on effect that we can send loving thoughts their way as well.

Glad to hear you are taking some time to play games. Enjoy !

Be well @Jacques
