Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Hi @Faith-and-Hope

I love that term "backwashitis" - I have been having that since I saw my psychologist last week - and feel better after a good sleep after I finally did sleep -

So we have a Forum Dictionary - I love words and inventing new one - I so get that one - it reminds me of a holiday at the beach we had once - and at low tide all the rock pools had life in them - but we had to watch the tide - it can sneak back in when we are looking at the ecosystem between tides - mental tides -

All have this has something to do with the moon - I believe

And Stress Hangovers - ah yes - this is what happens if you fail to notice the tide is coming in and you get caught in the surf - a strange mixure of water, sand and air and "wherethehellismysurfboard" reaction.

So many people are ignorant of this side of life - they don't even get on the psychic roller-coaster - what can they know?

But we do

I should be writing a book - well - I am actually - but that's fiction - but about the crazy world of the mentally battered - we know Not all Days are Coloured Pink and what would we learn if they were

Re: Night Shift

I really like reading and hearing everybody's rants or brief 'pop ins' on this thread. Maybe its what others get from facebook but i didnt have access to computers when all that started .. so didnt go on. Maybe I am just like other people after all.

I am waiting for my son to finish his shower and we are going out for a movie. Typical mum thing, last minute, he said he hadnt had one, so I wait... again. At least its not lonely waiting any more.

lol... @Mazarita I am not advocating being norty or leading you up the garden path .. lol .. .. just expressing myself.

Yes @Decadian Mostly we do have knowledge of what we need to do ..

He is gorgeous .. he said sorry ..

Bye all.

Re: Night Shift

Hi all,

Bit of a hard day here. Very disturbing dream plunged me into a sudden depression for some time earlier on, which has colored the whole day really. Bit of 'backwashitis' going on from the psychologist appointment yesterday I think, and from the relative intensity of the past week (by my standards). Saw the psychiatrist this afternoon and that went okay. Considering the long deep depression I was in for years, he thinks I am now doing very well. He encouraged me to keep taking it 'slow and steady' in my forward progress, something I agree with wholeheartedly.

After that appointment, went and visited a friend. Was very tired there so came home early, watched a Star Trek: Next Gen on telly, and then crashed into bed for 90 minutes. Just woke up not long ago. Feeling a bit better now. Giving myself tomorrow off to do anything at all that I want, or not, before starting the round of activities and appointments for next week.

Haven't caught up with everyone's posts but hoping the evening has been treating you well.

@Mazarita

Dreams can do that - I wake up trying to catch the tail of my dream and it has turned into either a fabulous bird that has flown or a chunk of lead that I do not need

How I wish I could remember the fantastic dreams and how I wish I could forget the baddies

So - @Mazarita - you watched yesterday's ep of Star Trek - oh wow - who was the real Data? - I hope I don't dream "will the real Decadian please stand up"

Actually - I was feeling drowsy and had recorded the episode - luckily - because I watched it twice - wondering myself how we know who we are at times -

I had better watch it this afternoon - I was intrigued

How are you feeling now?
