Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Skips over to @Snuchu with a gentle hug...

Do you have an action plan if it gets worse? Can you talk to the nurse, perhaps...

Wishing you all the best... my thoughts are with you...

Re: Night Shift

Thanks, @Silenus...

I guess I should talk to the crisis chat again, but I want to delay that as long as possible.

Hey everyone! Watch out for @eth

4 hours solid sleep...

That's brilliant. Congrats. (Should I be congratulating you? Hahaha...)

Back on BlueBoard, whenever someone had a victory, Si would do his undies-on-head victory dance...

Don't mind me, folks. I'm just balancing a plate on a stick on my nose whilst juggling a fluffy kitten, a white dove and a rainbow-coloured slinky, whilst playing my knee cymbals, whilst riding my unicycle...

I'm trying to distract and entertain @Snuchu 🙂

Huggles...

No Cyril, don't...

[Crash! Bang]

Damn you Cyril...

Ooohhh...

Is it weird to be excited by doing the dishes? I'm about to start my daily dishwashing, and the OCD in me loves me for it... hahaha...

It's a wonderful daily meditation for me, becoming the dishes and the water for a while...

It's how I roll... 🙂

Jeez, what happened there, @Silenus?

Re: Night Shift

Thankyou everyone for celebrating my sleep milestone with me.

@Snuchu sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. I was skyping with my adult child and my grand daughter. They are very far away and it's so amazing to be able to skype in this day and age. Hoping you are feeling all the support here and that it's helping you get through the night.

@Silenus you had me laughing out loud remembering a little kid about 4 I once knew. He would put undies on his head and use a towel for a cape and run around yelling 'undie man' at the top of his voice!

I've been appreciating the sharing on family histories lately @Mazarita @Silenus @Faith-and-Hope. I just don't feel ready to unpack mine yet. There is so much to tell and I've worked hard to leave it alone for some time so I can have a relationship with my mother again. And my brother and sister. Thankfully my Dad and I were friends again before he passed away suddenly in December 2000. And with the others things improved a lot once they accepted that having bipolar is real for me, not just a history of outrageous behaviour where I could have controlled myself better. But there's still a lot of pain in some of the memories.
