Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Re: Night Shift

@eth, yeah, okay. Only a few hours sleep as usual but c'est la vie. How's the chest infection at the moment. It's good to be chatting with you in the quiet of the middle of the night again. 🙂

Re: Night Shift

Chest is much better tonight thanks @Mazarita. Had a little over 3 hrs sleep but it was much deeper than the last few nights so I feel a lot better for it. And might get some more in a little while. After being so flat and down yesterday I feel more positive now too.

I'm going to go to bed again @Mazarita. Will chat with you later.

Re: Night Shift

@eth, that's wonderful to hear. Sorry about how down you were yesterday. Don't think I helped with that. Sounds like a good idea to sleep more when it comes to you. I'll be trying to do the same. Meanwhile I'm having a liquorice tea.

@eth, sleep and heal well.

Re: Night Shift

LOL @Mazarita as soon as I turned the computer off my energy kicked back in. What made me draw the line under that discussion yesterday was having the topic of who can use which toilets raised again. I just think the solution to that is so obvious (separate free-gender toilets) and it seems that only bigots and media hype are fuelling the debate. I felt that everything I had shared was reduced to that and it was the second time this week that had happened on the forums - it also happened in the resilience discussion.

Re: Night Shift

@eth, haha. That was a quick turnaround, I know the feeling! I missed the resilience discussion. Might go back through and have a read. Can understand why you drew the line under the discussion yesterday. But pity you don't feel you can talk more about it all here. Sometimes communicating by forum can be hard. Wish I could sit over a herbal tea with you and talk more about it all.

Re: Night Shift

@Mazarita even if you go through the whole 9 pages, the most inflammatory comment was immediately deleted by the mods. However I saw it in my notifications. I was not the only person who reacted to it and our comments were not deleted. And the person who made it is also on this thread. So much I could say but it would probably only flare things up again when others wake up and I'm not interested in debating the topic. Like you say, a real life cuppa would be terrific, but we can't do that through these forums unfortunately.

Re: Night Shift

Resilience-as-a-response-to-discrimination It was a great discussion overall and the guest speaker was from QLife. That was because it was IDAHOT day, which is explained in the thread. My adult child and I had celebrated it earlier that day.
