Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Re: Night Shift

I've only managed a total of 2 1/2 hours tonight - significantly less than I would usually manage well on. Definitely time to step up the self monitoring charts.

@Tyler77, that's a reasonable chunk of sleep, nice going. 🙂

Good morning, @Former-Member. 🙂

Re: Night Shift

@eth, the sleep diary sounds like a great idea for you. Glad to hear that, since your birthday doctor's appointment, there are positive steps happening to help you improve on the extremely broken sleep. Looking forward to talking especially with my psychiatrist about my current issues when I see him at the end of next week. I do enjoy the appointments with him and have a fair bit of faith in his way of approaching my situation, which has not always been the case with every psychiatrist I've seen over time.

@Mazarita I am just seeing the GP for now. Haven't seen the psychiatrist for 6 months. But the GP is going to let him know what's going on and she will ask him if he will see me under bulk bill again. I think it would be a good move.

Re: Night Shift

I hope it happens for you with the psychiatrist, @eth. Mine bulk bills me, another reason he's a bit of a hero to me. An Indian doctor who I found on Google. Later found out is one of the main figures in the professional body for Queensland. Very intelligent, likeable, engaged and down to earth.

Re: Night Shift

In other morning news, our neighbours in the flats next door are very close to us over the fence. I've heard (but never seen) a little girl growing up from a baby to toddler over some time. About this time each day her dad goes out to work on a motor bike and I hear her yelling out to him from the balcony in her little voice, 'Bye! Bye!'. Sweet happy sound.

Re: Night Shift

@Mazarita I am missing my grandaughter heaps since they came to visit. So many little echoes of things she was saying. And just in the 3 weeks since her speech has advanced so much. She's now stringing a few short sentences together whereas 3 weeks ago it was only 4-5 word single sentences. Such an exciting time of development that age is.

Just did another mini-meditation so am feeling refreshed again. Just as well as I am on the road at 8 with my friend. Went to see her last night and she was crying a lot as she is losing her 13 yo cat at the moment. Gave her a cuddle and a big shoulder to cry on and a listening ear.
