Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Re: Night Shift

It has been a real pleasure.

We are the same age and have a lot of things in common ... sciency background ... political cultural ideals .... and our daughters are a little similar ... though mine did not have physical challenges your daughter had.

My dad would have loved to work in the field that your dad did ... he didnt finish his uni and died young of pneumonia and over medication whilst in a repat psych hospital ... there was an inquest but noone attended... I just got those documents later as I have been doing my research.

My first great connection with another mum my age... thank you.

Re: Night Shift

I agree with what you said about all the common ground. It's a first for me on-line too. And we have much more in common than most of my irl friends (there's only a few anyway).

What a tragic life for your Dad. Must be a real challenge for you putting everything together from records.

Re: Night Shift

Quite yummy thanks

I have been given the go ahead for more ... so ... "He who must be obeyed" approved too.

I always try to get co-operation .. its slower but works better long term. we were just organising our sheet music for the opera holiday and then will probably even sing a bit ... he has slept all day.

A friend just said they're dropping around so I'd better go wash up. See you later maybe.

Re: Night Shift

Hi @eth, @Appleblossom, anyone else who wishes to join the conversation...

Steady rain day here and warm, a relaxing Sunday. Slow start to the day and then a round of exercise bike and stretching. Again no beach walk. Grocery shopping in the early afternoon. I now have the ingredients to be able to cook a couple of simple pasta dinners this week. Partner usually cooks or we have take away so me starting to cook regularly is another way things are looking up. Day 2 of cutting down smokes, going okay.

How's your day been?

I was busy all day and exhausted now buT I haven't actually achieved anything sigh!! Oh well there is tomorrow I guess!!

Re: Night Shift

Hi @Former-Member. When moving it often seems like we're making no progress but we some how always get there in the end. Yes, tomorrow is another day. Thanks on the smokes. I haven't cut out many yet but it's a start. 🙂

Re: Night Shift

What have you got planned for the week?

Re: Night Shift

Psychologist and psychiatrist appointments. Want to catch up on some cleaning jobs that are overdue. Want to keep up the daily plan as much as possible. Get to the beach once the weather clears up. Have made a lunch date (very rare for me) with friend for the middle of the week. I guess you'll be mainly looking after the children and organise home move. How long do you have before you will be free of that?
