Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Re: Night Shift

You could try a cup of tea if you have facilities there to make one @BlueBay . Sometimes that will settle a stomach ache, especially if it's spasms.

You could also soak a face washer in hot water and hold it to your stomach for a little while and see if that helps.

@eth, cool that it's your birthday tomorrow! At least starting the day with a medical appointment is starting the day looking after yourself. Glad you have a couple of friendly social get togethers to look forward later with friends. Keeping my fingers crossed that your symptoms abate overnight.

Re: Night Shift

Hello everyone.

I had difficulty and wasted a lot of time trying to edit a post that may have confused people. Then I had a lot fo social stuff to do. Writing group, Shakespeare reading, dinner dance and then choir today.

I am like you @Mazarita I need time a lot of reflection time with social stuff. Too bad if its over think .. its necessary for me .. but I am good. Boundaries are established with the problematic American lady. She has qualities and her link with my son means it is simply my duty to manage her and my feelings, but not swallow them. They were part of my poem that I read on Friday to the group ... and in my tone socially ... she realises she has stood on my toes ... she cant change .. too old ... but I am learning to be tough ... with tough ole broads.. and she knows ...

Yes I also value all those smiles with strangers .. and I frequently give random smiles.

Hi @Faith-and-Hope and @eth and @Faith-and-Hope and Si

More great train conversations and the sense that my energy and social confidence has changed a lot. I can chat and be happy with a wide range of people and am feeling that I no longer have huge storm clouds following behind me ... obvious to all ... even though I thought I had put the past behind me.

Anyway more and more I am integrating it and distinguishing the people with whom I share I what.

Night, night, @eth. 🙂

Hi @Appleblossom, great to see you after some days. You sound busy with lots of interesting activities, positive feelings of strength and boundaries with your interractions and time out in between to process it all. Good stuff!

Re: Night Shift

My self esteem rockets up and down like a yoyo .. but I mentally I know I am on the a good path. My boy was away for the weekend and is going away next weekend .. so it feels good for him too.

You have come a long way in the last few months too.

Re: Night Shift

@Appleblossom, great to hear your son is doing well and that he is getting out for weekends away. Seems like might those times might be nice break times for you too. Being off the green for almost six weeks has given a boost to my confidence, partly through the elimination of the heavy shame I was feeling. Trip down south was therapeutic in other ways aside from this too. Just trying to keep up the gains now without spinning too far into hypermania.
