Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Re: Night Shift

Sending hugs and gentle peaceful vibes your way, @Faith-and-Hope. It sounds like a very tough thing you are all going through.

It's good that you recognise what you can and can't control in the situation. If you are anything like me, I am sure that you have played it through in your head again and again, in a lot of different ways. But life doesn't always behave itself and play out the way we expect or want.

I hope that things work out. Often, when things come to a head, it is actually a relief from the long (often years) of buildup to that point.

Sending more hugs your way. 🙂

Re: Night Shift

Thanks so much @Silenus. It really helps to know that other people are thinking of us.

I'm down at the river looking for coffee and dolphins.

I'm a church-go-er and it's Sunday ... I am going to skip trying to get everybody else up and organised to go, an just head off on my own. Others might stagger along if they will, or not. Their faith is active, which is helping to hold us all together. Attendance will waver a bit. Fact of life.

Two close friends are taking me out for lunch afterwards, and daughter no. 1 will sort the rest of our tribe for lunch. I am blessed. It doesn't take away life's struggles, and there are lessons in it for everybody.

I have heard that the strongest, most courageous and caring people are the ones who have fought tremendous adversity. That's what I am hearing all over this forum. Our situation pales a bit next to what many of you have faced up to, and we are stronger if we lean on each other.

Thank you for being there for me.

Re: Night Shift

Thanks @eth. I figured you wouldn't be far away, and it is comforting.

No dolphins, but I found the coffee.

Starting to rain, and I didn't bring an umbrella. This is going to be interesting ...

And distracting ...

Re: Night Shift

Daughter no. 1 is ccoming to rescue my butt. She heard me leave for my walk, heard the rain start, and put two and two together (= very wet mum).

❤ that girl !

Re: Night Shift

That's True @Faith-and-Hope

Those who have struggled through adversity do have more to give - I guess people have to go through that Dark Night of the Soul to really know not just that the struggle we have is universal - but that some people actually learn valuable lessons being there

Other people tell me - "I get upset" - oh - do they? - so do I - but that has not stopped me from living an incredible life and the toughest parts have had great lessons

Okay - having read ahead on the thread - you have got caught in the rain and your daughter is coming to rescue you - Damp Mum. I am glad she is - well - by now - been and collected you.

I find it so helpful and encouraging to find so many people will to share their lives after a battle in the surf of life

I hope you are "fair enough" under the circumstances all of us live our lives

For some reason I have given up working out my back has given me a bad weekend - it makes me tired - and sometimes fed up - but otherwise - emotionally - I am okay
