Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Re: Night Shift

Hi @Shaz51

We sometimes do it on school holidays.

It's just giving Ng yourself permission to not have to do anything beyond the basics while there are no immediate commitments other than putting meals out.

Because my family is grown up, when we are really low-ebb, like now, I don't even try to insist on eating together, or at the table, or anything. As long as we are fed, everyone just chills with whatever they want to do.

One of mine has gone back to sleep. Another has gone out. Another is on a computer game, and another is doing a jigsaw puzzle.

I have got music playing, and I'm playing with images in this iPad app. I have worked out how to virtual-paint to change the image by "painting" into it or over it. While I haven't got the stuffing to pull out paints and canvas, this will keep my mind busy and engaged in something positive for me.

Re: Night Shift

@eth, we visited some friends we see only occasionally as they are about an hour's drive from here. That's not that far to go but I have developed high anxiety about driving and even being a passenger in cars. I haven't driven a car for at least three years and avoid travelling in cars much further than the next suburb. So getting up the highway to visit our lovely friends is always a challenge. But we went a different way this time which made it an easier ride and had a lovely afternoon with our friends, an older couple we actually first met online through music making about five years ago. Just chilling out tonight, watched Star Trek: Next Gen and now here. 🙂

Slept for about 3 hours so far. Crazy dreams. How about you @Mazarita and @plasmo? No surprise for me tho as I slept a lot in the day yesterday with this cold.
