Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Hi @Faith-and-Hope Morning sunshine 🙂

Where I saw your comment that I referred to was on "My beautiful boy" which I am still thinking of my answer to. It was a very moving conversation. Sometimes when a thread really brings a lot up for me I sit with it for hours or overnight before making a comment.

Hoping you day is beginning happily and smoothly. When I had my kid still at home I used to take great solace in the times when they were sleeping - that was my 'me time'.

That image is wonderful @Faith-and-Hope!
I wonder if I can work out how to make it my symbol here rather than the dodgy flute.
Thank you!!!

Hiya 😊

Yeah, I used to settle into housework once I had put the kids to bed, cos all the pressure was off to get things done. Hubby was / is a workaholic, so he wasn't home, and I could just potter about, cleaning up and putting things back in order on autopilot. My mind could unpack the day and put my thoughts and emotions in order along the way.

I got that from my mum. She used to pick up the broom after dinner, and sweep the floors. She hated doing dishes tho. She used to just stack them in the sink, squirt in the dishwashing liquid, run in the hot water, and just "leave them to soak". Trouble with that was they would still be soaking in the same water up to 24 hours later 😆 We used to have to fish them out of the then-murky dishwater and wash them up to use them.

Look at that !! All these years later, I have just realised she was actually getting us to wash the dishes for her, and none of us ever realised 😂😂😂 Smart woman, she was !!! ❤️

Hi @Kurra

@So glad you like it 😊

I think I have altered it enough that it doesn't cause any sort of copyright issue, and it is very small if you use it as your avatar. I would feel honoured 💗

I inverted the colours. It was on a white background, so changing it to a negative image took all the coloutprs to their opposite sin the process. Then I. Worked into the edges with a deep blue to create a halo effect.

i don't know if you can read it in the tiny image, but the words down the side read - "live, laugh and love".
