Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Re: Night Shift

It's not a huge cutback, fair bit of irrational anxiety in there too maybe. Thanks for the offer of support, much appreciated. I'm seeing the psychologist weekly. I'll just be trying to stick to the program he gives me as best I can and will tell him straight how I'm going each week. Partner is supportive. He smokes too but, the way our living arrangements work out, not in front of me.

Anxiety can be like that sometimes. Sorry it's getting to you today. Great to hear that your partner is supportive. Be patient with yourself

Re: Night Shift

Thanks @eth. I'm trying.

So there hasn't been a beach walk here for some days. Storms around and heavy downpours. We need the water here. Getting humid now too. Our sub-tropical climate would be tame compared to where you are, I imagine. I've never been up there though I did go through the NT a couple of times travelling, once to Uluru.

Hello @eth and @Mazarita

I havent been up north since early 20s ....

My son prefers the cold so Tassie hols were preferred and then he went of holidays altogether.

I had a big day went to rehearsal for Alls Well that Ends Well ... came home SON FED ME ... HOORAY!

and then went to bed ... now I am bright eyed and bushy tailed.

Re: Night Shift

You must be missing your beach walks even though the water is needed. People up here really take the abundance of water in the wet season for granted all year round but there is talk of the need for another dam in the not too distant future. We have less people here using it too, of course. Lately it's been about 34-35 in the afternoon and only down to 25-26 at night and very humid. Only that one bit of rain so far. I've really felt the heat the last 2 weeks but this build-up season doesn't last too long. Should be much better by December.

I made it to Alice Springs for an archery tournament but not out to Uluru. Have only flown over it once. Must be an amazing place to visit.

Re: Night Shift

Hi @Appleblossom it's great when someone else feeds you for a change isn't it? Happens rarely for me. I get tired of always being the cook so frequently have some sort of take-away when my mate comes to visit. I feel a bit slack about it but we don't really like the same foods much so it's easier.

Re: Night Shift

Hi @Appleblossom. Good to hear about your rehearsal and great that your son fed you. Did you have any dreams while sleeping earlier?

@eth Yes, missing the walks. They'll be back soon enough though.

Re: Night Shift

What are your favourite dinners? I need some new ideas. I eat vego when by myself but have lean meat, fish or chicken sometimes when socialising. My mate is very much a carnivore and I find it hard to get inspired to cook for him as much as I'd like to. He doesn't like very spicy foods either, which I love.

Re: Night Shift

I'm going to sign off for now, getting tired and want to watch TV for a bit then head to bed. Hope you both have a relaxed and enjoyable night.
