Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Re: Night Shift

It's hard to say whether we are destined to always have these problems. The psych today spoke in very optimistic terms and it was a bit infectious. I know that I'm a lot better in some important ways now than I was say 20 years ago.

I also share your nervousness at times about closeness and aggressive noise from neighbours. But it's great to hear that your panic attacks have settled down.

That's good to hearabout your optimism @Mazarita. I'm going to head for bed again now. As always it's been a good chat. Hope you have a good sleep.

I'm here again @Mazarita. Hope you had a nice time tonight. Thanks for your support today. Feeling somewhat relieved now with the way things worked out.

Re: Night Shift

Hi @eth. Just got home. We had a good time at our friend's place for dinner, talk and hanging out around a kitchen table. Glad things have worked out quickly for you.

Re: Night Shift

Sounds like you've had a good night. I had a cold all week on top of a couple of other things so couldn't see the couple of friends I had wanted to. Getting better now so maybe next week.

Re: Night Shift

Yes, hopefully next week. Glad the cold is getting better too. I've had one of those days where I'm very lethargic on the outside and wired on the inside. At one point I just felt like my emotions were spinning. It's Day 1 of the cutting back the smokes so I'm a little edgy about that. Doing okay so far.

Re: Night Shift

All strength to you with the cutting down on smoking. Just the chemical withdrawal can explain how you've been feeling today, let alone the social side with both kinds of smoking. If I can help you stay strong I'll do my best. How often will you be able to talk to the doc about it? Is your partner supporting you with it? The guy I'm involved with still does the other kind in front of me but I've talked to him at length about how it is for me and we have agreed that he'll never suggest I do it or give it to me. He respects my choice and efforts and doesn't sit for any length of time with it in front of me.
