Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Re: Night Shift

@Former-Member, missed your last post while posting mine. We used to see tawney frogmouths fairly regularly when living in our last rental flat for about 6 years. Wonderful creatures. They used to spread out their wings on the back lawn of the units sometimes. We lived with a national park almost up to that spot and saw and interracted with lots of wonderful wildlife. Fond memories of that time. I miss the creatures where we are now but enjoy living here for other reasons. I chose Mazarita fairly randomly. It is a variation on a nickname I have: 'Maz'. Always liked the name Rita, so just added the two together. 🙂

My ID -

My faith in God is what guides and defines me.

My hope is like a guiding light I follow through the dark times and struggles I encounter, turning difficult situations into triumph in some way or another, if not for me, then for someone else.

Blessings come back to me all the time anyway. We have encountered so many omg situations in our life, the script reads like a soap opera. Honestly, I could write a book, and sell it as fiction 😆

There have been plenty of tears along the way, and hopes crash sometimes, but that's just life. You have to search for a way to pick up the trail again, and go gentle with yourself till you feel ready. Time is an amazing healer, and positivity will find you if you reach for it, even feebly. You have to make the choice to let light and life in, or back in, if you have been badly hurt.

It all takes courage and strength, but we are not alone. We can share the love and lean on each other.

Sound like a hippie, don't I ? I have a bohemian heart 💗

Re: Night Shift

@Mazarita DBT sounds interesting. Might ask about it when I get to see a new psychologist. Have done CBT and mindfulness separately but it sounds (from google) as if DBT might be combining them in a different way.

What you say about your Mum sounds so familiar to mine.

@Former-Member you don't have to keep up with answering every post (tho some of us do) I'm using a desktop with a keyboard so can probably type a lot faster that if you're on a phone. You can reply to any message whenever you want to afterwards - no hurry!!

Re: Night Shift

@Former-Member, about the speed of posting... I was a typist in many of my prior jobs. Speed on keyboards comes effortlessly. Plus I have a very active mind.

Hmm "ethnobot" @eth, something my son would use (being an IT & robotics whizz). Study of HERBS must have held you in good stead through life? Any known mood stabilizing herbs you know of?

@"maz" thats different @Mazarita, my sister was Caz, short for carol. mazarita is pretty & original.
Glad to cause you to remember the Tawney frogmouth. They different.

Hey @Faith-and-Hope, are you a tatooist?

Re: Night Shift

@Faith-and-Hope, great! Now we just have to wait at this end for the image to be 'moderated'. Can take up to an hour sometimes, less at others. Looking forward to seeing when it comes through.

Re: Night Shift

No, not a tattooist, but enchanted with it as an art form. Some of my design sketches turn out like tattoo images. I embroider them onto clothing sometimes, and add beads and sequins to highlightt some areas.

Art to me is a living thing, not just to hang on the wall. I know someone who is a body painter. She draws temporary tattoos onto people, and it's gorgeous !

Re: Night Shift

😊

I hope you like it. This one is very brightly coloured - cheerful in my thinking.

my usual style is very realistic and true to the natural colours, but I am experimenting. Impressionism attracts me, but my natural style usually dictates.

Might try to get some more sleep.

'Night girls 💗
