Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Re: Night Shift

Things are just beyond hard at the moment I'm really not holding it together well at all.

Re: Night Shift

Sorrry to hear that @Former-Member. Do you use mindfulness at all? Or just breathing techniques? I have found both really helpful in difficult times. And reminding yourself that this is a stage in your journey that will pass. I think you said the court stuff is in 2 weeks or so, so just take it one day at a time. Want to talk about what is hitting you hardest?

There's just no end in sight to it all really - he stil gets to say what ever he wants - use my childhood against me at every hearing. I'm not sure I can keep fighting him every 10 to 12 weeks and I'm so scared already of the trial that is supposed to b in November but the thought of him alone with the kids terrifies me more but I'm not sure o can get thru this stuff either

Re: Night Shift

Oh dear. I thought the trial was a lot sooner. Do you see a psychologist or social worker? Sounds like you really need someone on your team to talk this through with on a regular basis. You should be able to get either for free if your GP refers you. I am so sorry you are dealing with an ex who stoops so low. I'm hoping for you that the court sees through him. What happens every 10-12 weeks that makes things flare up?

Re: Night Shift

There are hearings every few months to re evaluate custody because my ex keeps saying I'm unstable and he should have custody

Re: Night Shift

It's been going on for three years now but because I had a psychiatric assessment I was found to have PTSD dissociation disorder mixed personality disorder possibly he has gained a lot more sway even though the psychiatric report stated he supported my continuing role as is - but he's saying that he doesn't have those problems that he has family and friend support etc where I come from a broken home and no contact with family etc he is living in our old house still etc just never ends and I'm so tired of trying to fight and I feel so inadequate and alone

Re: Night Shift

@Former-Member What a nasty person he must be. And how hard on you the situation is. Since I met you in this forum I've had the impression that you are doing so much to prove you are on the right track and doing all your children need and more. Everyone is allowed to have a past (him using your childhood against you in court). What matters to the court is what you are doing and how you are now. Stay strong and when you don't feel strong be kind to yourself.
