Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Thanks. Will have to remember where these instructions are when I want to do it.

Re: Night Shift

Cool @eth. I might go offline for a little while now to see if I can get a few more things done. Thanks again for the friendly chat and may see you later tonight.

Re: Night Shift

I've been in bed trying to sleep for the past hour without luck so far. Thought I'd jump on here and see if anyone else is online and feeling like a bit of a chat...

Re: Night Shift

Hi again @Mazarita I'm here now too if you still are. Fell asleep early and had a few hours sleep but wide awake now. What's new?!

Re: Night Shift

Missed each other on the sleep shift roundabout. It's now about 5.45am and I'm awake again after getting about 3-4 hours, will probably go back to bed for a bit more soon. Hope your sleep has been smoother overnight.

Re: Night Shift

Wow I slept from 1.45 til 7 am without waking after 3 hours earlier. That's the best night in a couple of weeks so I'm feeling relieved and hopeful. Hope you got some more too @Mazarita

Re: Night Shift

So glad you got a decent chunk of sleep in there last night. Yay for your relief and hopefulness! I'm up again and staying up this time after another few hours sleep.

Psychologist appointment is not until later in the day. I usually go for afternoon appointments because I sometimes don't make it if out the door if they are in the morning. Feeling tired again this morning, as I usually do for quite a while on waking. Maybe once the sleep routine settles in more I might find more refreshment after a night's sleep. I'm hopeful too.

Re: Night Shift

Hope your appointment goes well @Mazarita. I'm planning to head to the local business centre to do a few things myself but I really don't feel like it. I just can't put it off any longer. I find it hard to get up and out most of the time.

Re: Night Shift

Thanks @eth and glad you will be getting an outing too. I'm the same with difficulty getting out of the flat. Even getting to the beach across the road is a lot of effort, always worth it though. I have been helped over recent months by doing the CBT based online training program, MoodGym. Some of the exercises in it were useful and I'm still going on one of them (daily activity plan). Hasn't fixed me up by any means but every little bit adds up I'm hoping.
