Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

@eth When I said spending some time with friends here, I meant here on the forum. I consider net friends to be friends within the virtual boundaries of what we are able to give each other (a surprising amount at times). I've found this forum really helpful over the past months and feel grateful to people I chat with here. That means especially you and @Appleblossom at this moment in time.

Re: Night Shift

Where are you again? @eth Singing is great ... singing with others even better ... I lead a few community choirs in the past .. and also did music ministry within the church ... to me they are all the same thing .... I dont quibble over belief issues.

my daughter went to the atheist conference and though she wont talk to me she tried to get them all happy and singing ... I heard about it on the grapevine ... that warms the cockles of my heart ...

but its been a bit of an ego boost joining this choir .. I sang in the opera centre ... gives me a sense of "progressing"

SH .. self harm ...forum guidelines prevent me from being more specific ... it might have started as simple head ache and neck pain ... now its just always there ... my osteo taught me how to live my life around it and I am used to it.

The lady who was supposed to show called ... she was flat out ... extra work pushed on her and a sick hubby to rush home across town to ... we agreed we will do it later ..

I paid for 2 singing lessons at a fundraiser .. and she was donating her time ... she is an examiner ... and part of choir ... at this rate I will collect 2 years after I paid for it ... but good will is more important than being on time ... lol . says she who is often late ...

Re: Night Shift

Thankyou @Mazarita. I'm feeling the same way the last few days and have really found the discussions with you and @Appleblossom in particular very beneficial. Trust is very difficult for me these days and it's very healing to share the way we have. Previously I had mainly used the 'When Something's Not Going Right' thread and hadn't found a thread where these kind of friendships could develop. Thankyou both! I also enjoyed the Friday Feast twice so far but it's not as personal.

Re: Night Shift

@Appleblossom I'm on the outskirts of Darwin. Glad you asked as I couldn't remember where you are either and was embarassed to say. Was wondering last night because of the potential time difference meaning you might have been up a lot later than me. We are an hour and a half earlier than anywhere with daylight saving. At the moment it's raining gently which is lovely after over a week of increasing humidity and high temperatures. So nice to cool down at last.

So glad to hear you are finding this beneficial, @eth. Sounds like a magical tropical day where you are.

Re: Night Shift

I have found it hard feel close to women in the past and often thought of myself as a bit blokey ... but then again I have gradually become more used to discussing the topic of food and even wear skirts at times ...

I like it when people arent too preumptuous about there being a right way to be ... a person ... or a woman

I also liked the mood @PeppiPatty @Former-Member and @chookmojo and @kristin set up in the forum .....

but I also like a lot of the men who post ... and it is not even about liking .. it is about people being brave enough to express their truth.

and now more are joining ... I value reading all the threads ... even if I cant relate or have nothing to say .. or it is hard to think about how tough that person is doing it ...and I need to go and do some quiet time or meditate or pray ... it keeps me in touch ...

now I need to go and do some music practise

My tiredness is catching up with me again so I'm going to put my feet up for a while. See you later most likely.

Re: Night Shift

I'm back @Mazarita. Just had a short restful time-out without napping then some fruit to refresh. Decided it's best if I don't nap in the afternoon when I want to sleep better tonight. Did you make it to the beach yet?

Re: Night Shift

Cool with just resting without sleep. Missed the beach, not a great day to go again weather-wise. Had some dreams but they dissolved on waking.
