Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

All settled now!!! Thankfully, been such a long day, I just feel like I need to cry but there's nothing there.

How are you doing @Appleblossom ?

Re: Night Shift

Hi @Former-Member,

Gsh i wish you could have a good cry, it does help release the built up emotions, is their anything you can do to get your breath, maybe step outside for a minute and take some deep breaths of fresh air, maybe scream into a pillow, or pat the fur babies?

I am so glad the children are settled, i hope you manage some you time tonight.

You are such a sweet woman @Former-Member, i would like some company, i am really worried about Karen, but i don't know what else i can do to get in touch with her.

I am ok, just starting to worry about my aunt comming back, i don't know how i am going to manage, i suppose i will have to. it is a shame i have no where to find peace. that is all i want in life now.

Re: Night Shift

Maybe when the time is right for you .. you will have a good cry. @Former-Member

Sometimes I am all dried up too ... and I am also relieved about that as its harder to hide distress from the kids when my eyes are puffed up etc ...

Its a bit like the let down with milk .. sorry @Jacques .. for being a bit girly.

We are all worried about Karen. I am glad you pop on this thread to chat too.

Do you have any favourite places that you like to go in the bush. For when you need space. Look around.

I am ok ... son just came in wanting to have a sing ...

take care

Re: Night Shift

Hi @Jacques sorry you are in such a tough situation at the moment. Hopefully your aunt will have reflected a bit on how difficult things were and be less.... Difficult? One can hope anyway. I do hope that Karen can contact you soon, perhaps she is in hospital?

i am enjoying the quiet tonight! I accidentally left my laptop at work so not working tonight!

Re: Night Shift

I hope you enjoy your quiet night @Former-Member.

@Appleblossom I don't leave the yard, but I have plenty of wildlife in the yard, maybe I can find a spot where everyone will leave me alone.

Hi @Former-Member, @Shaz51, @Mazarita thinking of you

Re: Night Shift

I wish there was a way you could know what's happening, not knowing is hard. Keep using your coping strategies, Karen is a survivor she's so strong!

@Jacques

Maybe you could make a nook or an alcove somewhere you could sit with a book .. out of sight .. gives one a sense of privacy.

2 old sisters together could be very difficult and hard not to get drawn into their issues.

Is your aunt deliberately argumentative or is she not aware of the effect she has? Will she leave you alone if you ask?

@Former-Member it is great to see you even without laptop ... one day I will get on top of the whole mobile thing.

Hope kids stay settled and you get a decent night's sleep.

Re: Night Shift

Hi all....

Yes @Appleblossom... We did go out that day - was it Easter Sunday? I've been extremely exhausted this week & have spent quite a lot of time in bed! I think the injury knocked me around & I had to take half a doozen or so doses of anti infalmmatories. Hopefully I get to yoga tomorrow - although I am up late tonight due to anxiety....

It seems like people are gaining information from other threads, so sorry that I don't know what is going on exactly. I acctually find this site difficult to navigate & stick to the same threads usually.

Partner is ready for bed, so I better go & get some beauty sleep too!

Sending hugs to all...

Namaste,

A

Re: Night Shift

Hi @Jacques, @Former-Member, @Appleblossom, @Former-Member, @Shaz51 and everyone,

Just stopping in for a visit this night and sending good wishes to all.

@Jacques, sounds like you are going through an especially hard time at the moment. I like @Appleblossom's suggestion of finding private nooks and spaces where you can be at peace with your own company. It's not as good as having the space to yourself but might help you keep anxiety levels lower. I hope you hear from Karen very soon. Sending hugs.
