Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Re: Night Shift

Hi again @Former-Member....

Sounds like the kids are being spoilt! I had two big vegan easter eggs before easter + yesterday I met up with my mum & she gave me a block of vegan dark chocolate (which I tried not to devour in 1 day, but I was exhausted & sometimes that makes you eat more!), so I feel like I've been eating way too much chocolate lately!!

I just had my usual breakfast - oatbrits, bran, vanilla almond milk, flaxseed (for omegas) & today I had raspberries to add ~ I like to have either blueberries or raspberries to add if they are not too expensive, as the vitamin c helps the absorption of iron in the bran. I get frustrated with strawberries lately ~ too much effort to cut off the tops & cut in half ~ oh dear!

I've just been on fb & window shopping clothes that I can't afford (oh dear!) this morning... I'm dressed & ready to go to the markets to get some kombocha & fruit if my partner wants to ~ he just got up & went to the bathroom, so I'll know soon what we are doing.... I feel like doing something! I even put make-up on this morning! A lot of cafes are closed for easter, which is a bummer... I think I need to go out today to help my depression... I was hoping the weather clears up this afternoon & I can go for a walk with my partner ~ the anti-inflammatory helped a lot, but my back is still sore ~ so running would probably aggravate it.

Anyhow, I'm blabbering... I hope you get to enjoy the park before it rains where you are ~ otherwise you might have kids running around in circles in the house!!

Namaste,

A

Feeling really crappy....

Just completely exhausted & little things my partner is saying are irritating me, because I'm just so damn tired!! I feel like I'm about to snap!

Re: Night Shift

Hi @Former-Member

Did you manage to get out today?

Would it help to talk about the things your partner says...

I went to sing this morning and ended up having a civilised chat with a man who was truly obnoxious to me me and my son 5 years ago. I dont think he remembered or has changed his tune. I wasnt ingratiating, just direct and more robust than I usually am, if anything he was being nice to me ... ??

Another lady said I had been spoiled becasue I brought Lindt chocolate to share, rather than being grateful. I am learning to turn the old gratitude thing on its head.

Re: Night Shift

Hi @Mazarita hope things improve and you get more energy for life.

For a very very long time I was very very slow in lifting myself out of bed. Nowadays, since starting the forum, I can swing my legs around and jump out of bed. Now many people may not approve of the time it is or the amount of time I spend curled up, but I do need to do quite a lot. and then ... I have energy for my life.

@BamBam thanks for asking about rehearsals. Last week was an exceptional week .. a bit of an experiment on my energy and social levels. I had to go into CBD or to other side of town on MOn, Wed, Thurs for rehearsals, Friday was sound check and concert. It was brilliant. Then I went to church ... they had brass band on Saturday for Easter Vigil. There was an orchestra this morning and schubert, Mozart and Handel.

So that was 6 days out of 7 .... yay me ... I was totally exhausted in the concert ... it is a long work ... and by one of the final arias .. I was lulled into a moment of sleep by the strings ... hope I didnt do too big a nod of the head as I woke up .. lol .. but had enough energy to go to the church and be upbeat,

my son just did the big concert and not the church ... but I wanted to do a bit of thanksgiving ... for the concert and having my son with me ... and that he has good mentors with his scholarship. I feel like I can start to let go .. now he has found a bit of a niche.

Dear @PeppiPatty loomin heck ... sometimes rich husbands are more trouble than they are worth ... I was not wanting to put you down ... but encourage you to encourage your gorgeous to find ways of being better ... how is your citrus tree?

Congrats you actually did make me giggle on another post .... have I finally found my misplaced girlhood.

Thank you.

Lovely to see you pop over here @Jacques

Not sure where the girls are ... hope they are doing well. I am definitely in topsy turvy land .. son went off with dad and ate and then slept ... so dinner was delayed ... guess what ... its time for me to go make Salmon salad.

Re: Night Shift

Nice to see you too, I hope this week has treated you well, and you have some happy memories of Easter.

Gosh so late for dinner, but I hope you enjoy.

Going to bed now, thanks for being here, my virtual mum 🙂

Nighty night

Re: Night Shift

Thanks for the call out, @Jacques and @Appleblossom. I've been continuing on in slump land but superficial mood is intermittently okay, just can't move myself to do much aside from video editing. Inside the flat most of the time and sleeping a lot during the day still. Trying to mentally prepare for trip down south next week to see mum and a few friends and family. Everything changes when I go south. There may be some difficulties really testing patience, tolerance, anxiety levels. But I hope to be energised by travelling and seeing everyone too. Hope the topsy turvy evens out for you soon @Appleblossom. I'm not up with the posts so I'm not sure how it's going living with your aunt, @Jacques. I hope the situation is treating you as kindly as possible. Sending good thoughts to everyone.
