Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Re: Night Shift

i am looking forward to seeing it, Oh no @Former-Member, i thought the easter break was the same across the country, gosh i will be counting down the days for you my friend. i am glad you are getting a long weekend, i hope you get some rest and maybe take the children out for a little treat 😄

I am ok, for now, the big day tomorrow, i know my mood going to crash so i am prepareing for it and have coping stratagies in pace for this event. i just hope i can hold out too 😞

Take care my friend and try and get some sleep. remember to switch off your pc/tv for 30 min befor you go to sleep. it will help your body relax. slow down the hyper awareness.

good night.

Jacques

Re: Night Shift

@Jacques sometimes it does help when we can anticipate a dip in mood.

I am up after 2 again and the piano is pounding away in the next room .. we are both in a weird space but not bad. My son is not on my lap, I wouldnt recover. lol .. He is huge. It is amazing how fast time goes.

4 days of orchestral experiences for my son and 6 days for me, if I make it to all. It is work, it is exciting and beautiful and thrilling, but it is not easy to turn the brain off, so he plays when we get home. We are living around the night calls at the moment. Adaptive .. we are intense people .. most important thing is to get through Easter calmly.

lovely bike @Former-Member Hope your boy has a great day.

I am not sure about your approach @PeppiPatty but it is your right. It can enable helplessness and dependancy. The whole "chronic paranoid schizophrenic" label is scary but I had to live with them from childhood. I dont glorify it or fear it as much anymore. Somehow I wish I could get it too and take a holiday, like I have from driving.

Re: Night Shift

Yes, i agree, it helps take edge off the anxiety outbreak for me, i am starting to get chest pains and shaking, but i am managing.

Yes, time does go fast, i can't believe it has been 15 years since my father has died, i have missed out on all my 20's (housebound since 19) and almost half of my 30's gone, with nothing and no one t oshow for my time on this earth, so sad to look back on all the time wasted, all the opportunities passed and happy memories missed. so sad.

i hope you get some nice singing in for easter, i hope you get a showing for your next performance.

I hope your day is going good, and you and your son make some nice memories, take care my friend.

Re: Night Shift

Dear @Jacques and @Appleblossom

How are WE going to show people like @Former-Member that their lives are worthwhile if we speak of our useless lives hey?

Now both of you CHANGE people for the posisitve. YOU @Jacques have made great progress is how you canr for not just your Mum but the environment. I know, we know that we wont be remembered like say.... Queen Elizabeth but we can make a huge IMPACT on the environment and how people treat each other.

Now @Jacques...Often I re read and re read your posts. They are so .....caring and precise.

Your posts change me how I speak for the better.

Apple, you too. I feel more intellectual. My husband has been in jail too many times. Im not going to change but your writing on my husband is duly noted and Ille thinnk about it when Im not so sad about my son.....

But your writing certainly gets me talking and thinking.....

Re: Night Shift

Awww, that is so sweet @PeppiPatty, thank you so much, their seems to be so much hate in the world, i have hated and people have hated me, i don't want that in my life anymore, i want to be at peace with myself and my surroundings.

Who knows maybe we will all be remembered for the good we did in peoples memories @PeppiPatty, you do so much good in your community, you should be so proud of yourself, i know how people like us are written off as welfare trash, etc, but people like yourself help give people and hand up when they have fallen. be proud of yourself @PeppiPatty, everyone has a place in this world, we may not think it but we have our place too 🙂

How are you, hubby and Mr Arlo? did Mr Arlo get his flee treatment yet?

Re: Night Shift

Hi all....

Where is @Mazarita hiding? I hope you are okay!?

Thank you @Jacques & @Appleblossom.....

Yes, the world does need more empathetic, compassionate, caring people...

So glad you are enjoying creativity through music @Appleblossom

@PeppiPatty for me my chronic sucidality is worse than my scary psychotic experiences & even though I do compare pain - I try not to do it a lot.... What are you going through?! I probably missed some information you shared earlier! I gather your son is staying with you & he is getting help from headspace? Is he benefiting? What is the talk about head injuries?? Hugs...

I went for a run this afternoon!! I didn't time myself, so I didn't beat myself up about times, pb's & expectations... - I ran apx 6km's with 4 small walking breaks.... I'm trying to chill out now.... bit anxious or something... I'm glad I ran - I just have critical thoughts in the back of my head. The rest of the day was spent in bed, as I had a headache. I had set my alarm for the morning.

@Former-Member well done on getting the bike assembled - like @Jacques says ~ you are amazing! I thought you had almost finished your first term too ~ oh well! Enjoy the long weekend break! I hope you can recharge your batteries a bit.

Take care all,

Namaste,

A

Re: Night Shift

I've been increasingly depressed since last I wrote here, and withdrawn, though I did get out for a long walk on the beach some days ago. Finding comfort in the foetal position and sleeping in the daytime. Getting very little done at all at the moment, mainly just surviving. I am safe though, my mood is not desperate. Have been reading some of the forum messages but finding it hard to say much at present. Thanks for thinking of me, @Former-Member. So glad to hear you got out for a run without the 'stick' of timings. Sending best wishes in all directions.
