Community Guides - who they are and what they do!

Community Guides - who they are and what they do!

Hi there,

As you may have seen, we did a call out for the latest round of Community Guides.

Community Guides are long term members of the community, who help others feel heard, feel welcome and less alone. You may seem them around getting involved in things like:

  • Encouraging members to participate in discussions
  • Welcoming new members
  • Helping members feel less alone, whether it be through sharing on their own experience or through connecting members with similar experiences
  • Starting new and engaging discussions
  • Special events, such as Topic Tuesday
  • Answering 'How-to' questions from other members

This round of Community Guides are:

@Appleblossom @CheerBear @Faith-and-Hope @Former-Member @PeppiPatty @Phoenix_Rising @Queenie @Sans911 @Shaz51 and @soul

Over the next 24 hours, you will see the title under their names change from 'Senior Contributor' to 'Community Guide'

In the meantime, I thought I would start this space so Community Guides can introduce themselves (incase you don't know them) and you can say hi!!

Thanks,

Nik

@PeppiPatty 50 is the new 40. And besides, you’re only as old as you feel. Hmmmm? Not sure if that’s a good or bad thing??

@soul my friend.....50 is a wonderful age.....better than 20....better than 30 .....I have no regrets but when my sons' went to Primary School, I think that they should have gone to a Steiner School......

How are you? How have you been finding the Forum?

What do you like most about it?

I love the companionship that the forums provide @PeppiPatty. I never feel as if I am alone.

Interesting @soul......

When I joined Sane Forums....I truly thought Sane Forums would never last..(sorry Nik ) ...I had a restraining order on my husband and was'nt getting through at all. My own peronal lfe was a wreck and I just kept on posting my own mental ill health times and working out whether I was doing the right things.

The company was very needed and welcomed then and now......hte Forums also helped me work out whether Mr G was good anough to come back......

Now look at him....

Yes @PeppiPatty the forum has grown and evolved and it is a good thing.

I love that you make me feel it is humourous for me to want to take my book. SO I can say it with the laughter in my voice, rather than the pain or being a belligerent luddite.

So you have helped soften me.

Yes I remember your situation was extreme. Glad it is a bit better.

I have gained a support team since I joined forum.

Like @soul the company has made a huge difference to my daily mood.

10 years ago I began sitting in silent protest requesting a Royal Commission. I did not really believe that would come about, but it has, and the world is viewing child sexual assualt as a serious offence these days, instead of just, wink wink say no more ....

In that it was a team effort and in this.

Thanks Nik and mods for giving us this platform.

Dear @Queenie

How are you this morning? How is wife?

I remember you from before my break...I rember you as being quite insightful and intelligent in your answers.........

I might even try and find some one day to prove my compliment.....not yet, I've got to get Mr g to the chemist to get his meds.....

lol

I must say, being here makes me feel more on control and......caring in the outside world......

Aww shucks @PeppiPatty, you just made me blush. 🙂 Thank you for your compliment.

The Wife is well. She's been to a few carers week dos this week. I think we've both had our yearly quota of cake in one week! I'll admit I rushed out today to a BBQ held by the personal helpers and mentors organisation I am with, so I've been rush rush rush all day. I'll sleep well tonight!

It's great to see you back after your break! I hope it wasn't a day full of rushing for you and that you were able to relax after getting Mr G to the chemist for meds.
