Community Guides - who they are and what they do!

Community Guides - who they are and what they do!

Hi there,

As you may have seen, we did a call out for the latest round of Community Guides.

Community Guides are long term members of the community, who help others feel heard, feel welcome and less alone. You may seem them around getting involved in things like:

  • Encouraging members to participate in discussions
  • Welcoming new members
  • Helping members feel less alone, whether it be through sharing on their own experience or through connecting members with similar experiences
  • Starting new and engaging discussions
  • Special events, such as Topic Tuesday
  • Answering 'How-to' questions from other members

This round of Community Guides are:

@Appleblossom @CheerBear @Faith-and-Hope @Former-Member @PeppiPatty @Phoenix_Rising @Queenie @Sans911 @Shaz51 and @soul

Over the next 24 hours, you will see the title under their names change from 'Senior Contributor' to 'Community Guide'

In the meantime, I thought I would start this space so Community Guides can introduce themselves (incase you don't know them) and you can say hi!!

Thanks,

Nik

Hi everyone

I am CheerBear (or CB as some people call me). I spend most of my time on the Lived Experience forum and don't often visit here but looking forward to bumping in to anyone along the way!

I came across the forum during one of the toughest times I have faced and I found/continue to find it an incredibly valuable source of support, understanding and connection. I feel inspired by the people I meet, the stories I read and hear about, and the struggles that are overcome. I have a bucket load of respect for the challenges that might come from caring for someone with mental illness.

Nice to "meet" you all

Re: Community Guides - who they are and what they do!

Hi all you wonderful Forumites,

I came to this site when I was partnered with someone who had severe mental issues that impacted on me in a very traumatic way. I felt like I had entered a whole new world and the Forums helped to educate me whilst providing support and companionship in a safe and empathetic way. I have also been through several other difficult family events since joining. .

I identify with both the Carers and the Lived Experience Sides. I feel like I have come a long way but there are times that get me down. I live with my daughter, a dog and a bird. I enjoy walking (a lot) and yoga.

I try to see the beauty and goodness in everything and everyone.

Can I offer a blessing upon @NikNik @Appleblossom @CheerBear @Faith-and-Hope @Former-Member @PeppiPatty @Phoenix_Rising @Queenie @Sans911 @Shaz51 and @soul that you will be guided in your responsibilities, that you will be filled with patience and love and have a spirit of understanding and wisdom as you help guide those in need through difficult circumstances and that as you do, you will have peace and joy in the knowledge that you have in some way, relieved the suffering of another. Bless you all.

Dear @Former-Member

Thank you, how are you tonight?

It's lovely to speak or sorry....write to you......

I'm PeppiPatty.....in 4 weeks, oh yes....4 weeks, I'm turning 50 years old. Yippee ! I heard that turning 60 is even better......

I'm a fulltime carer for my very beautiful husband who I used to go to high school with.....aww...it's my second marriage.....my sons love my husband. He is diagnosed with Chronic Paranoid Schizophrenia. In this umbrella of "Diagnosis," do you know that it means that for him: that he has no concept of time ?

My oldest son struggles with fairly regular times of psychosis and my youngest son had a couple of nervous breakdowns last year remembering times of conflict with his biological Dad who he does'nt see and remembering some terrible times when he was in hospital from a medical condition he has.

Today I'm quite broken hearted because I've been having some difficult times with my Mum...

I started Sane Forums when it origionally began. My main thought was for the forums to be very positive. I never thought it would last.
