It's frustrating and sad to hear that you are struggling with your medication. Many people try several different medications before they find the right fit. Hang in there and try to be patient. I know it's hard to do so. It is a roller coaster no doubt and it is frustrating when things don't work as well as they should.
Medication is to assist with your diagnosis. However there is more to staying well than just medication. It includes a stable routine and sleep pattern. What I have found talking to others on medication is what works for them won't necessarily work for me and vice versa.
With all the physical side effects that you are having, check the fact sheets for your medication. You can find them online or ask your medical team, they can provide documentation for you. That will allow you to see if the physical issues that you are having are medication related or whether there is another medical reason.
Another thing I have found which may effect sleep is whether you take your medication day or night. For some people they take it in the day to be alert or to function well. Whilst others take their medication at night to get a good night's sleep. Depending on your physiology and diagnosis, you may find taking medications at a particular time impacting your ability to sleep. Chat with your mental health professional and/or GP about your medication to see if there is an affect causing your issues of insomnia.
I did not have to go to hosiptal to change my medications. It was done post hospital admission.
