New

New to this forum. A big deal for me trying to cope for years. It feels from browsing this forum that you know one another. That is both comforting an intimidating. Not sure where to start from here. Just this is a last resort for me. I'm lucky I have friends and family who rate me far beyond what I deserve. Which only makes me feel like a fake. "You're clever" no I'm stupid. You're nice. no I'm a cow. Can't see myself in a positive light. Not fishing for sympathy I just really can't see it

Re: New

Hi @Leah12. It's nice to 'meet' you and great to see that you've joined up and posted. I remember feeling a similar way when I found the forum - that it is comforting to see that people know and support each other here, but that can also feel intimidating.

It's great to hear that you have supportive friends and family, but that can be hard when the things they say don't seem to match the way you're feeling. Do you have any professional support?

Posting here is a great place to start and if you'd like to share more about what brings you here there will be people interested in hearing about it. You're also very welcome to jump in any threads that you'd like and say hi. This community is very friendly and understanding of what it's like to be new here 🙂

One thing that really helped me was learning how to tag. If you put an @ symbol in front of someone's name, they'll get notified of your reply and it will make it much easier for them to find your message.

Have you got much on for the weekend?

Again, nice to meet you 🙂

Re: New

Hi @Leah12 and welcome. I think most people feel the same way you feel comforting and intimidating. There are some lighter threads where people say good morning, a community garden to sit and enjoy,,plus animal threads depending if you are interested, and what kind. They can just be a way of finding your confidence. I'm heading out into my garden, I've been talking about it long enough now.

Hi @Leah12,

@CheerBearand @Maggie have given you some good advice.

I have only been here a short time and all I can say is just dive straight in! Yes it is a bit nerve racking but everyone is so welcoming and supportive.

Most people start with the morning thread, I'll tag you there!!

Hi @Leah12
Welcome to the forums, i hope that you find this space helpful to you. It probably does seem as though everyone knows each other here but we all joined up at some point and were new too 🙂 everyone is really welcoming of new people and it doesnt take long to get to 'know' each other here, please do have a go at just jumping in where ever you feel drawn to,
take care for now!

Re: New

Welcome to the forums @Leah12

It is intimidating to be "new" to something, when you think everyone "knows" one another, but that's not the case. We were all "new" at some time. My experience has been that people here are very caring and supportive....and there are so many different topics on offer, with different themes, and not all dark. This is a safe place to talk or vent or just browse.

Take care.

Re: New

Thank you everyone. Wonderful to wake up to such welcoming messages. At this stage my phone won't seem to allow me to even like posts so I'll have a look later on my laptop. Thank you again

Re: New

Hi again @Leah12 🙂

The phone app can be a little fiddly with likes. Most of the time it works but doesn't look like it has, and sometimes it just doesn't work. I use my phone most of the time but trick it into being in desktop mode often also.

Hope your day is going ok and looking forward to catching you later 🙂

Ohh @Leah12 @lola

DId you notice "posts" spelt with an "M"? We all struggle with the limits of technology! lol

I hope you feel more accepted socially through particiapting in the forum.

Some "friends" may go back a while, but as a culture we are open and welcoming. Just keep on posting to get the most out of the forum.
