Mum Severe Anxiety / Depression +++

Mum Severe Anxiety / Depression +++

Things are coming to a head with my family. My mum has always suffered Anxiety / Depression / Severe Mood Swings (?Sz/Bipolar - secretive). Now what she fears has come upon her - terminal cancer on top. Shws not coping, and also dads carer (mobility issues and dementia stage 2). Mum has passed her 2yr medical prognosis date with terminal cancer and fought hard to hold independence.

Her MI is sooooooo difficult to work with. Sooo ambivolent about everything, anxious, can't make decisions, argumentative, suspicious, shuts down, cries, abuses, withdraws... Sucks trying to help. Dads care is failing too, she resents all the in home help I've activated with him this last few years I'm seen as the enemy for doing that, even though she can't. Last week dad actually asked me to come help "looks like mums having to go into hospital"

They never ask

Then I get this tx from mum this morning. "Feel crook k#####(me) hows your flu today if you can come down what form of travel you choose and how can you look after the birds they are a concern dont feel good today at all but the day is young yet might pick up"

I have respected mums fierce need for privacy but today I rang palliative care to see what's happening for her? They got her mix d up with another 'same name' patient. Then turns out mum has never beenbreferred to Community Palliative Care (which is why they didn't know her), but had her last Admission Notes referring her to Palliative Care Dr, she's been doing those visits but talks about dad not herself. Next visit ?12th.

Mum has lost 25% body weight, is weak. After talking with her and x3 nurses today (like hours), clarifying wrong contact details and complex family matters, I feel shell shot!

Honestly thought these things were in hand.

I'm gonna have to go down, but OK his time begrudgingly. I live 12hrs away, I have a sister & 3 bothers within 5 - 1hr away. They can't handle mums MI - she has legal rights++ but don't know what she's doing now dad can't take charge.

The palliative care cimmunity nurse can't act without that referral from the hospital Dr, so shell look at that and then ring mum... All maybies of cause. My heads swimming with it all, any wonder mum just throws her hands in the air saying "they don't care, I'm too old, they just want me to die"... "And you lot are selfish and just want to put me inva nursing home and forget about me, and you all care about dad more than me..." Then she crack a joke about something totally related, say "don't wanna talk anymore..."

OMG!!! my cPTSD & cGrief trigger alerts are all firing. Feel resentful. Want to go to bed 'till it goes away.

My son even said to me this morning "mum you know people have totally cut off parents for doing far less than they have done to you!" Suggesting I abandon them. How can I do that and stand before God (and myself) in peace? This is so hard!

Help!

Re: Mum Severe Anxiety / Depression +++

Thanks @Former-Member, hope your OK. I cracked early today - private tears that flowed for 2hrs. Last straw was ringing mum (she asked me too ring her before I come in to visit). She
- asked me for receipts to the bills I paid for her 300 electricity, 130 phones (with 500 she gave me) bit what really hurt was after asking if she wanted me to put into a safer place the $900 cash I found laying around - she went off because she thinks it should be $1,000. As if I'd take it! 😕 the lack of trust hurt. She went on & on.

The people she asked me to approach as executors of her will - said no. She went off at me, in front of visitors, because I didn't ask them with her present (as if outcome might be different, as if!). When no by LD my sister who mum wanted she went right off "no way!" She calmed when I told her they said no & recommend public trust. My sister (who hasn't talked to me for 6yrs till yesterday) started organised sing councils l pickup before mum gets home... I told her I don't want to upset mum while she's so sick and in hospital. Especially if she dies as soon as one Dr said - Christmas. A cousin offered to get people to in too - I said not whole she's likely to come home fro. Hospital... What is it with ppl.

When I arrived to visit mum, she called me close, burst into tears saying "the Dr wants to send her home Tomorrow, but I don't wanna go home yet, I'm not ready yet... ..." I approached the nurses. Mums Specialist came in and said 'no' we still have home services & or rehab to organise before I discharge..."

Later in the day Mum tx me to ring her tonight. She instructs me to "tell dad to drive sometimes" (dad is happy for me to drive, he can't put his own shoes on, feel below his knees or feel a thing below the knee. He can't remember what he had for breakfast, Or why he withdrew $2,000 from the bank... His movements / reflexes are near glacial pace slow. He wrote off his car last year after two accidents, but went bought another. He shouldn't bevdriving - everyone knows it. Furtbermorez mum wants me in the car with him when he drives as he shouldn't be on his own re gets lost. She went off at me for not letting him maintain skills... wt#

I got angry.

My back 😞

Are you able to ring someone to get a bit of support for yourself?
Carers Australia give free counseling (will do it over phone if needed) and might be able to provide help or advise of someone who can. Cancer council often provide free transport to appts - hospital will probably advise of these types of supports.
Tackling Dad's license another issue, sounds like it is much safer with you in drivers seat.
Will continue to think of you,
Darcy

Sorry I'm such a loser here, when you've been so good to me.

it does upset me the unfair way I am treated by powers that be. Trying to run me off again I guess. Picked up a brochure on bullying today, that's what it is, I have just as much right to be here as anyone else & know I help others when i well, and do have a place. I burst into tears when the posts were removed - to have them imply i disrespect my loved ones... Thought being anonymous here covered that, and blurred blocked faces - but apparently not. I'm thinking maybe we are not as anonymous as we're led to believe. Then again, what leg does an MI really have to stand on? I cried a lot today, under great stress, and then smashed trying to seek real support. What's new! Its traumatizes me, the way its done, disgusting reallly. Lucky I'm too tired to care beyond tears. I wish I could get sometningvright. Pushing myself hard here and now mm thinks I've taken $100, whichbi didn't and I'm missing money too, must check the maths again but its disappointing betrayal - after all I'm doing, bro4 (drugs) is highly suspect, thought he was acting weird. Guess i need to hide my valuanles and not pay any more bills for mum (she doesnt realise the yreasure she has in me, my heart and intentions toward my parents is pure, and as limited as i am myself, im the only one stepping up. Mums fight is back. Shez being irrational too - they did a 'mini mental' tezt on her today but she thinks it was a psychiatrist trying to put her away and said the tefused to play their stupid little games and told them where to shove it. OMG shes difficult (real high maintenance), pary of me foesnt want her to come home, isnt that yerrible. There's no telling her. I Have to hide deep inside.

I need to have another cry, its not fair, and my backs killing me, pushing dads wheelchair can be wearing, and still need good shoes, normal pills not touching the pain. Its hard for me to say 'help' Have to go cook dinner now, somehow... Might have a wine. Sorry, I can't stop the day ears, I know the lord ants me here, I need to he strong. Ha, just Real send I haven't had my pills today 😕

Sweetheart you are not a loser. Supporting a loved one in the final stages of life is difficult on its own without the added complication of other family members health problems.

Any chance of getting some comfy shoes?

Sending you some light @Former-Member ..... 💜💐💕

Let your mind chatter away in the background there ... it needs to have its say .... but that doesn't mean it's right ..... it just has to have its say .....

Meanwhile, listen here with your heart .....

"You are a child of God .... no less than the trees and stars .... you have a right to be here .... and whether or not it is clear to you .... the universe is unfolding as it should .....

Therefore be at peace with God ..... whatever you conceive Him to be .... and whatever your labours and aspirations .... keep peace in your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams .... it is still a beautiful world."
