Re: Taking the plunge

Morning everyone 👋🙂 I was pulled away from replying again last night so I gave up trying for the day. Lots of hugs for you @Former-Member.

It's nice to see you @Maggie. How are you this morning?

So, so @CheerBear . I’m familiar with darkness. I don’t like it, who does. Waiting for clouds to clear. 💜💜💜 It gets twisted and scary, we all know what it’s like, no surprises there.

How are your stones looking?

Do you have skype psych today?

Re: Taking the plunge

I hear you @Maggie and am sitting with you 🙁💙🖤

The stones have turned out well thanks. They're so smooth 🎉. I have gesso-d them but that's all. I made one for each kid to paint and one of both sizes for me to play with. I might get a chance to have a go at putting paint on them today.

You mentioned the artist having a professional paint chooser - oh my! Do you use the little piping bag kind of thing she does? Looks so tricky.

It's my off week for psych but my week for counsellor who I had an appt with yesterday. I had a big teary one with her, talking about what it means to be feeling hopeful about work stuff and where the passion comes from with it. Psych next week. It works well to see one each week.

Is counsellor coming over today? Have you had a go at any crafty anythings?

Re: Taking the plunge

Gosh @CheerBear how did you dry the stones so quickly ? They are so lovely and smooth. They paint soooo well. I hope you get a chance to play and paint today. 👍👍👍

I will try the bag, it looks interesting. I have tried the tiny bottles. Unfortunately my hands don’t like the pressing, so it doesn’t work for me. But they are really good to use, if you can that is. 😩😩

I know this work opportunity means soooooo much to you @CheerBear . You have a passion for it, I hear it when you talk about you time at gig. 🤞🤞🤞🤞

Yes, counsellor this afternoon. I even twist her kindness and caring. I hate twisted dark thinking, I often wonder what no depression thoughts would be like. I’ll never know.

No crafty stuff, my head isn’t liking colour 😂😂😂 , but I’m reading when I can concentrate.

Another school day ahead. It’s Friday. You’ve made it through another week. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Re: Taking the plunge

I have no patience @Maggie, that's how 😂 I read that the stones could be taken out of the moulds after a couple of hours and that they set well enough for primer after 6 so I ran with that. My powder arrived right as I left the house to go to Mr Person's the night before so as soon as I returned yesterday morning I started 😁 I was so excited. I had them setting and drying by the heater all day which helped too 🙂 I think I'll be way too clumsy for the bag but it does look very cool. I can see how the bag or bottles might hurt your hands 🙁

Thank you for getting it re work. A big part of the tears was thinking about working in mental health after so many experience being hurt by MH services. It adds to the passion now in a big way 💪

Does counsellor have experience living with MH stuff herself? (Just out of curiosity). I am glad you have kindness and caring in your life. You are so kind and caring and you so deserve to receive it yourself.

I love Fridays now 😆 We all do. School is very not-fun anymore.

Re: Taking the plunge

Lol @CheerBear I can see a line up of stones sitting by the heater. Go you. 👍👍👍

Have you seen how she makes the bags @CheerBear ? It’s just plastic scraps folded into a flute thingie. That looks tricky. But they can puff up the dots really well. Might be worth a fiddle. I might have a go at making one today. 🤞🤔

No not personally with counsellor, but she has faced some tricky stuff in her life. She has done trauma counseling for 35 yrs or more, so she has heard it all. She learns from those she talks to, one of her strengths. She’s the kindest person I have come across in my life. No pushover. Strong and gentle. Very intelligent.

Your personal experiences with MH gives you such in inside view of what it’s like living with it. Empathy that has come with a price. Tricky also.

I can see Friday is the best day of the week now @CheerBear . I understand that. Challenging times, that’s pytting it mildly.

Re: Taking the plunge

5:30 in the morning hunt for a compass @Maggie. I'm super keen on starting to put paint on them haha.

I watched her put the bag together yesterday but thought it might be one of those things that's a million times easier said than done. Plus I don't know what plastic could work 🤔 Definitely interested in hearing how you go if you try.

35 years of trauma counselling would change you I think. I love that she learns from those she talks to. You'd have so much to teach and share (I mean that in the nicest way). Your counsellor reminds me a lot of mine. Yesterday we were talking about exactly that - learning from those we work with. We spoke about the importance of owning whrn we f. up and sharing that with others who also work with people so we can all learn, not so we can feel better about it (if that makes sense). I'm realising all the book knowledge in the world can only get you so far and that it is stepping in to someone's experience that is when a different type of learning can happen. Arguably a more important kind too. You and so many others here have taught me a lot and I am definitely a better person for knowing you all.

Have you spoken with bro? Wondering how has doing this week.

Re: Taking the plunge

You are wise @CheerBear beyond your years, though I don’t know your age, just guessing. When I walked into counsellor s office 15 yrs ago now, I thought she would last 6 weeks. Lol. She told me she was putting aside her book knowledge, and she did, I have no idea how she gently lifted the barriers of communication I had secured around me, our first meeting were not verbal. I had no way, or words to express the pain I felt. I know you will ‘ get it’ @CheerBear , but it’s painful. Counsellor and I talked recently how both clients and counsellor

are changed by sharing pain. She doesn’t follow the norm, how could she. I wish you could spend time with her, I hear so much of her in you.

I paint at all hours also @CheerBear . She makes that compass look easy. I ended up with my feet etc.

I spoke to bro on Sunday. He’s really finding it hard. Drinking and smoking twice as much. He’s a worry, for sure. Hopefully the pubs open soon.
