Re: Taking the plunge
I have a dr app. tomorrow. Why do I feel like I'm about to climb Mt Everest without ropes?? Why is something apparently simple filled with fears and anxiety? I know I'm being silly,, but that's not enough to stop overwhelming thoughts. I've moved twice in the last two years, and finding an understanding GP is hard. My last visit was awful. I only went because I was asked to so we could discuss some abnormal blood results. The wait was one and a half hours, I've done that befor so I understand Drs run behind. But once I made it through the door was when the problems started. Eventually the dr found the results and told me the problems, so far so good. Then.....her phone rang....for 10/15 minutes she discussed another patient in details. As my fight flight button is broken, I froze, trying not to hear but hearing everything.. Eventually back to me...then her mobile rang, that was a quick one, but in her own ways she told me how valueless and unimportant I am, messages I know so well. It's taken moths to make it to another app, but not with this dr, I'm returning to my old dr, she's over the other side of the city. That was why I left, she was too far away, so I thought. At least I don't have to try and explain my history. Life gets complicated from the simplest of things. I always end up with a migraine after apps. Thanks for reading.

Re: Taking the plunge
@Maggie hearing you Hon - I get how the supposedly simple things can be filled with fear and anxiety. Since my GP moved practices the supposedly simple task of driving across the city also fills me with anxiety - it is not so much the drive anymore but places I have to pass to get there and although the staff there are friendly enough it doesn't feel the safe place that the old practice did. I have to make a huge effort to get there and it does take it's toll on me at times. As for this GP of yours answering the phone and discussing another patient in front of you - that is simply unprofessional and I can certainly see why that made you feel valueless and unimportant Hon ![]()
I hope going back to your original GP helps you feel a little safer ![]()
Hugs Maggie ![]()

Re: Taking the plunge
How is that in any way justified ??!!
And if they were waiting on a specific call, they ought to have excused themself from you to answer it, and either ask the caller if they could call them back between patients, or go to a different room, asking you if you didn’t mind waiting briefly because the matter was urgent .......
Dumb-founded ...... and yes ..... would like to see you with a more caring and more professional doctor ....... 😥
