the longest wait while being petrified

the longest wait while being petrified

So on wednesday I went to see my gp about a skin spot I was finding to be quite suspicious and the news turned out to be not what I expected.
They want the spot surgically removed urgently as in tuesday unless others cancel and i can get in earlier. They want the whole thing and as it looks like its spreading already they want more than just the top taken off then if it comes back malignanat more tests to see how far its spread then removed those areas

the worrying part is i dont know how long its been there for and because ive noticed it change twice its a very bad sign. Unintentionally coming off her was fear. Fear from others makes me worse and she was sending off alot of that. She pointed out 2 other points that she noticed that are really not good and are often seen in skin cancers.

Im so scared and it seems like tuesday is taking forever to get here. Its really not easy to sit with and accept. Im bloody pertrified!

Hi @outlander,

It's great that you have tried some of those strategies and I'm really sorry to hear you are still feeling stressed!

Here are some of the other strategies that you like- these are from the safety plan you shared with us. I thought I would leave them here for you to hopefully feel inspired to try more of these.

  • Take a shower or bath
  • Write something
  • Watch a favourite YouTube clip or TV show
  • Listen to music
  • Go for a drive

If you want to talk to someone one on one please do feel free to call the SANE helpline 1800 18 7263

Does anyone else have any tips or strategies they could share?

Lauz

Re: the longest wait while being petrified

Im upset @Sans911 but i cant cry because it hurts. Im mentally exhausted and im tired and emotional and i dont know what else to do to control it.
Ive tried sitting with it and makes me feel like im going to crawl out of my skin. .
Ive been colouring in almost all day and done abit of study but i cant do that because i cant concentrate. Tried abit of breathing but doesnt help me.
Sis i just dont know anymore i wish you were really here.

@outlander The anaesthetics can have after effect on us, that you may be experiencing. They will ware off by tomorrow. if not just phone the DR/Hosptal Casualty & talk to a Sister on duty its normal to have a low.

Re: the longest wait while being petrified

I think they have already worn off as im not calm at all back to that crazy monkey not the dopey sloth lol. Ive got pain meds that i can take which seem to work quite well. Im still really restricted though.
I dont understand why ive hit a low like this when im happy its over well the surguries part is over.....
Today seems to have started off bad and i tried to make it ok but im really restricted in alot of things but a few things have added to it today like finding out a few things my so called friends have done behind my back and now i have to either shut up and leave it or i need to confront them about it. Im just not sure which one yet.

Ive tried colouring in. Done about 5 pages today. And watched a movie, went for a short walk and listened to music just got back.
Ive taken my prn this morning which helped just for a little while but im at the stage again where im extremely fidgetty from nervous energy. Irritated and ive got the panicy heart attacky type feeling with really tight muscles. Ill have to try and calm down as its tensing my back muscles which is starting to irritate the sutures.
Have you got any suggestions on what i could do? Any at all is much appreciated

Re: the longest wait while being petrified

@outlander on top of the anaesthesia you have had a big build up of stress leading up to your surgery. There were so many what ifs? What next? What will happen to my health over a very serious diagnosis, it's no wonder youve come down with a bump. And not being able to work; to distract your mind from all the usual things you have to deal with has probably lead to the low, anxious feeling. So in a way, it's irratating you because you're bored, and have way too much time to think. Just try to radically accept that you have no choice but to rest, and even though it's hard, and you don't like it, you have to accept it. You may need to repeat that statement over and over in your head, until you do accept it.

With your friends, you have decide us their friendship worth keeping? Do they really value you as a person? Will they stick with you and still be friends after this time? And yes, perhaps you need to ask them why they are saying those things behind your back. But you run the risk of either not getting the answer you expect and possibly being even more hurt in the process. Only you can decide how valuable you think they are to you.

I know you are a little bored with being stuck at home, so perhaps plan your days ahead a little. Like I mentioned before, maybe make a nice picnic lunch really make an effort, and take yourself somewhere nice. Chuck some blankets and pillows and a good book in the car. Find somewhere you can go for a bit of a bush walk. While your there, pay real attention to everything. The trees, the leaves, the ground under your feet, noises like the birds, wind.

Do some writing if you can. Write some daydreams bucket list stuff. Be as grand as you like. Who cares if it never happens. Let your mind take you there anyway.

I don't know if any of what I've said wil help. I hope it does. I'm always here by your side lil Sis. If you lean a little you'll feel the warmth of my shoulder and my arm around your waist giving you a gentle hug.
