The Community Garden :)

The Community Garden :)

Being outside and enjoying the beautiful plants and flowers that are about is definitely something that's keeping me going at the moment, so I thought it might be nice to grow our own garden here where we can all enjoy it.

Please add any pictures, links, chats about anything you're enjoying in your garden, have found on a walk, wish you had in your garden etc. Or just enjoy wandering around 🙂

Hello @Former-Member @Teej @CheerBear @Faith-and-Hope @Shaz51 @Former-Member

Time to bring the succulents in for the coming cold. I'm assuming winter is coming, though who knows?!

Re: The Community Garden :)

Succulents are so varied and can be so pretty @frog and often quite forgiving too. I have a few in this pretend garden here, they have not been very well loved by the previous inhabitant though, but are coming along since I've been tending them a bit. (Your images are showing broken to me unfortunately Frog)

Hello to @Teej @CheerBear @Faith-and-Hope @Shaz51 and @Former-Member My those succulents are beautiful!

It's been a delightfully sunny, yet cool day here today, and the angle of the sun has altered dramatically over the past weeks, so yes, I do believe winter is coming, what sort of a winter we get though only time will tell.

Here is the best of the poor succulents in this place, the poor thing keeps getting smashed by invading cats or something every now and then too.

I'm not really sure how to best look after them given their poor growing conditions that I'm not really able to do much about.

I have a single Yellow Bean, or maybe it's a Snow Pea, I have forgotten (as I was pretty sure I would) pushing it's way to the sunlight.

A couple of other Purple Beans are trying very hard to survive the poor soil and marauding cats scratching and leaving their business behind (I have 10 foot high fence buried into the ground, surrounding me, and still they get in - horrible things.)

And here's my Bay Tree (potted) because it made me smile when I saw all of the new growth on it this afternoon. I use the leaves in many cooking excursions. It's a little dark in the image because of the fading sunlight.

Re: The Community Garden :)

That is so delicate and pretty @Shaz51, is that an orchid? it looks orchid-y.

There are so many Flax plants in the edging gardens here that I'm thinking of learning how to weave baskets with the strappy leaves! I don't have the capability of doing the process for making flax fibre or the patience eiither. (but wouldn't it be such a cool thing to do! - except for the inevitable rotting smell)

@Jojo2 that would be lovely to see. The farm I lived on for the longest during childhood had a little patch of Lady Finger Bananas growing. I can see father, after having cut it from the tree, carrying the large bunch to hang under cover so the bats and birds would not get them before they ripened. Another pleasant memory found - thank you.
