The Community Garden :)

The Community Garden :)

Being outside and enjoying the beautiful plants and flowers that are about is definitely something that's keeping me going at the moment, so I thought it might be nice to grow our own garden here where we can all enjoy it.

Please add any pictures, links, chats about anything you're enjoying in your garden, have found on a walk, wish you had in your garden etc. Or just enjoy wandering around 🙂

In flower at the moment is a gorgeous red valotta, an heirloom from my Nana
@Shaz51. I also have geraniums, Clovis, daisies, cyclamen, some cacti and quite a few others whose names escape me.

Re: The Community Garden :)

I had to look up what 'valotta' was @Catcakes they are very pretty. how lovely that you have something precious from your Nana.

I have some orange Clivias flowering out back at the moment, the heat is searing the petals so they aren't lasting long. Had to leave my white November Lillies and the Arum Lillies behing in the second last move. I pick the Magnolia flowers as soon as they bloom so I have something pretty inside.

I simply must harvest the Basil this week sometime. Freshly made Basil pesto is so yummy.

Those shrubs should bring the birds @Shaz51 I see them around a lot near where I am. @MoonGal and @Former-Member those are glorious vertical planters! and a pretty new flower plant fo ryou too @CheerBear

Gardening has long been a passion of mine, recently I have had to downgrade to a minimum of a few pots of herbs and edibles. I still love being able to grow things I can use in cooking.

Ooh I just looked up valottas and clivias @Catcakes and @Former-Member - so pretty! And I agree - freshly made basil pesto is great! The streets here are lined with magnolias and they're amazing when they flower ☺

My flower from yesterday is a Dahlia. It has lots of flowers on it for such a little plant. I put some purple and white alyssum in the bottom of the pot (no idea whether that's ok or not but we'll see!) and it's such a happy little burst of colour next to my coffee spot. Hope it survives.

Glad you found the garden here also SunShower 😊

Beautiful @CheerBear, I will have to encourage my green thumbs somehow

Re: The Community Garden :)

I'm using my not-so-green thumbs as a "learning experience" @Shaz51. That way I can justify the things that haven't exactly survived me 😉😂

I even had to give my MIL my orchid @CheerBear, by the time I gave it to her it had one root left
