Ceelllllll-e-brate good times! A place to celebrate ourselves and eachother :)

Ceelllllll-e-brate good times! A place to celebrate ourselves and eachother :)

This week the Forums celebrated it's 1 year anniversay!

Together as a community we have reached -

- Over 1500 members

- Started 1301 discussions (well 1302 after this post )

- Responded 18,762 times

Above and beyond the numbers, together we have created a place where people feel supported, encouraged and comfortable to share their tough times and achievements.

What a huge achievement!

To mark the occasion, we thought we would start this discussion as a place where you can celebrate other members on their achievements - big or small!

We've had members achieve a variety of things - getting a new jobs, finishing courses and taking steps forward in their mental health. As a group we have supported each other, shown kindness and stood up against adversity.

So here is our new space - a space to celebrate other members for their achievements and give them a big high five!

I wanna celebrate getting through 2016 as well as I did -

I began last year with a heap of repressed memories that came from the past and joined in the emotions at my mother's funeral - and I thought it was too hard to deal with and felt lost and alone but

There are a lot of things that happened in the time since then but I must say that among the most important was finding this Forum Family at Sane.org - and I am so glad I did

People here care so much - people are around pretty much 24/7 - and we can chat about just about anything - and the road - ah the road - that pebble in the shoe is so much harder than the mountain ahead

But this year has been a year of growth and better understanding - proving it is never to late to find life can be better -

It is

Thanks to everyone here

I want to celebrate the lamb roast that was just delivered to my door as a Christmas gift. Which is great as I left myself short this pay and my son visiting doesn't like chicken. Yay! Now it feels like Christmas. Not only that - I got someone to tell here 🙂 Let's celebrate!

So lovely to hear that this year was about growth and understanding for you @Decadian, what a nice thing to reflect on

How amazing @Former-Member what lovely person gave you that, sounds like it was meant to be if your son doesn't eat chicken

Thanks @Former-Member and @Bimby2

My Christmas gift to others would be this

When the possibilty of life lasting a long time from today gets less - other things grow in importance

The things that bother us when we are younger grow less important - and this is not what people might imagine - not something I ever thought of

But it's true - I have more peace in my heart - this Christmas feels more peaceful than any I have had had before - I have had things under better control - kept away from the crowds - know I will have a fit when I look at my bank statement and count what it has cost me - but that is no big deal

Seeing all my SIL's grandchildren - my great-grandchildren - growing each year - it started small and it's getting bigger - and this is my family - and they are what will be behind me when I leave - not yet of course - and my own grand-daughter moving out of home after Christmas to start her own life

This is really something - and very precious

Peace on Earth and goodwill to all of you

Decadian

Beautifully worded @Decadian.
What we consider important does change over time.
Friends and family - the family you make or choose to be around - the friends who love the real you (warts and all) - these are who we need in our lives for 2017.
Merry Christmas @Decadian & thank you for your support, wisdom and friendship this year.

Thanks @utopia

My dd is in her 40s and yes - I detect a change in her attitude toward me - whatever has been happening in her life has been something I know nothing about - or maybe I can guess - but dd is maturing

Carl Jung writes that the first part of people's lives are about acquistion - and yes - growing up and getting independence - starting a home, a family - the house and whatever goes into it - etc - and somewhere along the line depending on a person's independence people being the process of inquistion - a much more interesting stage of life

So things between us are so much better than they were a couple of years ago - even a year ago - and maybe whatever has been happening has changed her and she is maturing and tolerates warts better

So - seeing the photo of the family taken on Friday I could see how badly I was standing - talk about bad posture - and comfortably I asked her if I always stood that way and comfortably she replied - most of the time - yes. No trouble or awkwardness between us,

Wow- I knew my spine was bad - it hurts most of the time - but the photo shocked me rather. However the good part - there has to be a good part somehwere - was the exchange of information about my spine was natural -

Things were tense for a time - but that is in the past and that is a great Christmas gift I doubt dd knows she has given me
