The Walking for Wellbeing Thread

The Walking for Wellbeing Thread

Following on from the outstanding success of "The Great Yoga Adventure Thread", here begins one that may appeal to a larger sector of the Sane Forum population. Although I have started it in the Lived Experience side, anyone is welcome to join us as we put one foot in front of the other and walk to improve our mental and physical wellbeing.

I hope you will accompany me. Here we can talk about how, when, where and why we walk. It's a place to discuss our progress and share what we see along the way.

Walking is my thing. I love it. I do it in several ways. During the weekdays, I get up early and take a brisk walk usually stopping in along the way at the supermarket to pick up some groceries. Around mid morning, I take my dog for a stroll. Then late afternoon, I walk to and from a yoga session. Lastly, at night, it's another walk for the pooch.

On weekends, I like to go a bit further afield and discover new stuff. I often take photos as well during these walks.

I use an App on my phone called Pacer which monitors the distance and steps that I walk. I do a minimum of 10 000 steps each day. Some of you may be more high tech and have a Fitbit or equivalent.

Though I was going to miss this afternoons planned walk because we got a massive storm early afrernoon with heavy rain forecast into the night but it cleared up as quickly as it appeared.

Great effort @Former-Member. Hope you see something that uplifts you during your walks. Perhaps pause along the way to appreciate nature’s beauty.

Doing these walks means that we are doing something to take care of ourselves. Otherwise we wouldn’t bother getting out of bed each day.

Hope you have an okay weekend.

Thanks @soul,walked minimum 15.5 one, could've been more.First timexwalk to a bush picnic area.Bit tired today and down but it's my father's death anniversary as well, don't need anything else to reflect on.Doctor wants to see me again on Friday because he is concerned.Im concerned as well.I walk but I don't want to live.To me it's been the only thing that kept me going the past five years besides my cats.

I'm not going to bed to feel safe as much, but don't think I'm any better off.Walking is the only thing I have control over.

Did see a deer the other night,he gave a loud bellow, than ran for his life. There used to be two of them but one must've been hunted. One stage he was with a group of Brumbies.
