Book worms here!!

Book worms here!!

Morning all. I'm reading Nightmare by Lars Kepler, it is a murder thriller. It's the second book of Lars I've read the 1st was The hypnotist. I dont usually like murder type books but I do enjoy the crime solving part and the characters that evolve. I like fiction and non-fiction. I'm a mood reader. Critical reasoning by Ann Thomsen is a book that I read and put down and think about then read a bit more. Joddi Piccoult and Dan Brown are 2 books I have on the go. I just wanted to post here and hear what other books people are reading. I'm always on the look out for new authors and other genre's to read. Post here if you are reading a book or read a book and a little about it. Soz if this is a thread that has already been done. If so? Direct me to the thread 🙂

Hi @Neelix. I hope your bookclub went well, and that it's something you can see yourself doing again.

@Shaz51. I love my Aboriginal History books. I remember some of it (this terrible memory of mine). And when I'm overloaded with facts, that's when I need a good novel & to live in fantasy land for a while.
I live books with strong characters - especially female characters.

One of the advantages of living in a tiny house is more reading time. I recently ready The Buried Giant by Kazuo Ishiguro, which I liked, but not nearly as much as Never Let Me Go, which I loved.

Then I read Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty. It was good, but I wouldn't watch the show. One of the families in it says 'Oh Calamity' when things go badly wrong and I've adopted that!

Now I'm reading Britt-Marie was Here by Fredrik Backman. So far I'm loving it. There's one bit where she beats a coffee machine to death with a broom and when the owner comes back and says 'What ... happened?' Britt-Marie says 'Hit by a flying stone.' She's not trying to be funny, but this makes me laugh everytime I think about it!

So, what is everyboby else reading? @Former-Member @Shaz51 @Neelix @utopia @Bubbles3 and anyone who's reading anything!

Re: Book worms here!!

@frog. Oh Calamity. Lol. Love it.
Last week I just finished reading 'Blackout - remembering the things I drank to forget' by Sarah Hepola. It is the authors own story on her alcoholism and then her sobriety. I found it a very moving book. It has been described as a funny story - but I didn't find her blackouts funny at all. Probably because I'm reducing my alcohol intake.
Before that I read Judith Lucy's 'Drink Smoke Pass out'. Maybe a theme going here.
I'm not a big fan of hers. It's her voice I find hard to listen to. A whining voice. But the book was quite interesting, & she started writing it before she undertook the documentary show - ' Judith Lucy's Spiritual Journey'. She does include some of that journey in her book.
After reading this book, I've become a fan of hers.

Can't read any of my Aboriginal History books. Cognition and memory struggling to function. So I grabbed the only non horror, non murder, non scifi book the hospital had. Is called Little Big Man. About a young boy /man who lives betwewn thw Cheyenne world and the white world.

Would only recommend it for those who don't mind a book - where it doesn't matter if you forget some if the story. Lol.
