Is mental illness real?

Is mental illness real?

I'm starting to think not.

I think I'm just a useless failure of a human being and I have troub;e coping with this fact. It's not a real thing,I see this in the way most psychiatrists treat you like less than human. I'm not human. It's all just a joke.

And even with all this 'treatment' I'll always be me, a complete failure of a human being. It can't change who I am. So what's the point?

The problem is that if I cancel my psychiatrist appointment and don't get my blood tests done regularly they'll know. I don't know what to do. I could go to the appointments and lie, but how do I fake the blood tests? Can I just opt out? Tell them I'm done? Do they care? What's the point of all this?

Social worker? How do I get a social worker?
And I forgot I could ask for a reassessment. Will do that tomorrow.

I think you can ring and ask for a social worker @Former-Member. I'm not sure if @CheerBear knows something different. I would get evidence from your gp, psychologist, psychiatrist and uni counsellor stating why it's not a good thing for you to study full time and the impact of you doing so. At one point a Centrelink social worker rang to help me with the anxiety of those appointment and said I just need to ring and ask for one. That was a while ago. I hope this helps.

That's what I've done before too @Teej - ring and speak to a social worker over the phone, or make an appointment via the phone for a face to face appointment at your local office @Former-Member. I've also just rocked up to c-link as a giant blubbering bawling chaotic mess and was able to speak to one on the day, but I think that was more luck (or total crisis) that did it then.

They can help @Former-Member and hopefully there is someone there who can help you with this one. It sucks having to work as hard as you might to find someone to help, but I have really truly thought all hope had been lost with c-link and study before (a couple of times) in a similar kind of way, and so far it has worked out in the end. I hope it will for you too.

The evidence can help as well for sure.

Do you have any other support aside from your psych? My community mental health worker supports me through this kind of thing a bit and it helps heaps as well. Just another thought.

Hi @Former-Member, I can totally relate to how hellish it is dealing with CL. As @Teej said, I did have a small win via a "back door" a few months ago. You can read about it here. I have never seen a social worker at CL but I have heard they tend to be very helpful.

How many subjects are you doing this semester @Former-Member? As far as I'm aware, 3 subjects is considered a full load for CL purposes (I know it used to be).

Like the others said, a lot of the time how you go with CL depends on how much evidence you can get from your treatment team. I think this totally sucks, but that's the system. That's the only reason why I still feel I need to get a psychiatrist on board at some point. I have no actual need for a psychiatrist in terms of dealing with my muddle, but I know their opinion carries the most weight when it comes to paper-work type stuff. Such an absurd system!!!!

I super hope you are able to get a good outcome @Former-Member.

Re: Is mental illness real?

In my experiences..i believe what we call mental illness is actually spiritual warfare. Why is it that when your going up the right path or even when your just at peace with yourself something jumps out and attacks you..and usually its target is aimed directly at your mind..it attacks your whole thought process..i believe our mind(thought process) is a direct link that connects us to our creator..entities tend to mess with our mind when we utilize that link..creating chaos in our head so we get sidetracked..distracted..bipolar,depression and schizophrenia ect...are all forms of spiritual warfare..
