Re: SPRING-Clean Declutter - Need Help

Good morning fellow declutterers @Former-Member @utopia @1stepup61 @Former-Member @Shaz51 @Faith-and-Hope

Festive season break is all but over, so time for me to get on with the task. Am hoping to up the ante a notch moving 3 things a day not just 2.

Am thinking of getting a stick vacuum. Any suggestions?

Got one little job done this morning that has been irking me for years, replaced an inadequate picture hanger with a proper hook to hang my aprons on. Took about 30 seconds all up.

Here's a poem:

Hoping twenty eighteen
Will see my place clean
Fit for a queen.

Hi @Owlunar, @Faith-and-Hope, how are you guys, @Former-Member, yikes! x3 things a day = 21wk = 84month... 1,000yr, wow!
Umm What's a stick vacuum? 😕
Any job that has been "irking for years" is a major achievement 👍 well done! 30 seconds all up 😂lol. Love the poem.

I'm at my parents, so far so good. While washing and cleaning the laundry (in the shed) I found a thick gold wedding band in the floor dust & grime. Washed it up, wore it for a day then gave it to mum - she was so excited to have it back. It is her wedding band she lost x4 yrs ago. With he massive weight loss of late its too big so she's just had me help her put it on a neck chain.

Decluttering Spring-cleaning can be very rewarding 😁

Re: SPRING-Clean Declutter - Need Help

Hi @Former-Member, Merry Xmas, thank you once again for your encouragement, on low days, I get your post alerts which helps me know it can be done, so note to self, don’t give up! Wow, @Former-Member, how fantastic to find your mums wedding band, what a great present for her to have it back. I am inspired by all your posts, I would like to be where you guys are, but I guess I can do 3 things a day where I am at. I will think on this. I think I still need therapy support, so I am looking in to that with my doctor. So I wish you all a very happy decluttering new year. I hope to become more functional this year, I want to move eventually & have a new start, but for now it’s just small steps. Finally, I see adds on telly for a stick vacuum at night, next time I see it, I will take note & leave a message as it looks very handy. Must go, kind regards, @1stepup

Hi @Former-Member

I'm so glad you found your mother's wedding ring - how sad for such a precious item to be lost in all the dust and grime for years - so wonderful you washed it and then wore it for a day to give the love back to it and then to give it to her and such a fortuitous time as New Year - that is really special

Is your mother in hospital still Lapses? I haven't been in the forum much over the holidays - I might have missed something - but seeing as it seems your mum is still here then I am glad you spend the time with your son even though he was as prickly as a paddock of prickly pear at times - mmmm - I wonder how long it will be before he grows past this - you are his family after all and he is precious to you

Maybe he doesn't want to be special but here's the thing - he is special to you and nothing can change that

My best wishes for a better New Year - we have an on-line party here today - I hope I see you there

My thoughts are with you Lapses

Hi @Former-Member, a cordless vac would be so much easier. This visit is hard already, exhausting but also wholesome & meaningful. They have amazing support through the church, the hospital, cummunity services... but not on w'ends (mums boundary). But surviving thank you. Are u OK?

Hi @Faith-and-Hope, @Owlunar, @Former-Member, @Adge, @utopia, and (whose missing?.. . my brain 😕). How are yas? ❤❤❤

Happy New Year everyone!

Hi, @NatalieS @TAB, @Awpgirl, thought you might be interested in this Springclean Declutter Thread. We sure could do with your decluttering inspiration here.

'The other day I think I mentioned I'd started decluttering the spare room...things had come to a screaming halt but then last night I stayed up late (for me) with this feeling that I just had to clear out almost everything, so I was like a whirlwind opening boxes, tipping stuff out and busily shoving stuff into garbage bags to take to the charity shop. And I haven't even finished yet!

I can relate to clutter then rare fits of motivation where just cant stop. Sounds good NatalieS 😀 Ive got a small pile for salvos again. Good shoes found on footpath ages ago and pair of jeans that were mislabeled at best guess lol brand new . Anyway I only go to salvos to make myself feel good lol 😬

Re: SPRING-Clean Declutter - Need Help

I had to de-clutter, as soon as my Mum's parcel arrived @Former-Member

That's because she sends me bags full of rubber bands, 100's of paper-clips, spoilt (off) lollies, etc.

Even food that was off (not safe to eat) on one occasion. Sometimes old clothes that don't fit me.

My psychologist says it's a trait (habit) of obsessive hoarders, which both of my parents were.

Apparently there's a sense of satisfaction (or relief) when Mum sends me junk (rubbish), because that gets it off her hands.

There's never any thought of "does the person I'm sending this to really want it"? Or "Is this really of any use to anyone"?

The answer would be no (both times).

Then I'm left with the guilt of having to throw it out - when it should have been thrown out at Mum's end, & would have saved her the postage...
