Re: SPRING-Clean Declutter - Need Help

Thanks @Faith-and-Hope

It's hard to buy things for myself, especially with Christmas in mind.

My psych suggested that I buy things for myself, to the value of at least one of the hamper parcels that I sent. I didn't actually spend that much on myself, but it's a start.

I agree with the cards. I always keep mine for a year or so, even though I don't display them.

It is really nice of people to send Christmas (or Birthday) cards. Although people don't seem to send them anywhere near as much as they used to.

Happy Christmas fellow declutterers
Feeling grateful for the encouragement from each of you. We are off the starting blocks, progress has occurred, something to be just a little bit pleased with.

Re: SPRING-Clean Declutter - Need Help

Hello @Former-Member. Merry Christmas to you.
Yes I am grateful for the gentle reminders re: decluttering / cleaning - without any judgement from the folks on this thread. My table is still not empty but it's the best it's looked for almost a year. So I'm thankful for all your help.
Will definitely continue with this thread and with my cleaning in 2018.

Re: SPRING-Clean Declutter - Need Help

@Adge, did you get hampers for everyone but yourself? Deary me! We're gonna have to work on your self care 😊 but a bottle of scotch - its a start - not all at once mind you (I have very little knowledge if spirits & alcohol, other than the movies, ya gonna have to google the best way to enjoy a scotch 😱)

You're neighbours sound really motivated. Good luck to them. Talking about noise, my son is real sensitive to noise (irritable), last night I dressed tge front veranda table for an evening baked Christmas dinner, the exact minute we finished grace and started eating, there was a very loud buzzing noise on the road out front, one of our neighbours visitors was showing off his new petrol remote car. Yep, vibrated in our ears like a giant mozzie and kicked up clouds of dust doing little spinouts... for the next 20min. My son was not impressed. I was amazed, but yes, it spoiled dinner a bit. That's suburbia, grr!

He's at his dads this arvo so um resting. He makes me tense with snapping at tge slightest thing, I wish he was happier.

Having a storm right now, brownouts...
Talk later, hugzz 🐦🎄🐦

Beautiful tree @Faith-and-Hope, thank you, are you OK my friend? ❤🎄❤

Hi @Former-Member, yes, I've really appreciated coming out of the closet re my hoarding , and getting help here. But its like losing weight (have to get rid of heaps before its noticeable) so yes, off first base but need to keep going together. Thanks for Jeeping us on track here ❤

Hi @utopia, were with you, keepibgvtgw table clear is the first big practical goal. Decluttering is hard.

With my son staying over I had to get off the lounge bed & clear my bed 😞 it took ages last night.

Having storm and brownouts here, not much rain yet.

I only got one snailmail card this year - feels so weird. I use to suffer terrible rejection, hurt and anxiety when people stopped sending me cards, now I have learned to let them go,
"That us then, who am I"
I cried earlier because my son gave mW a diet book he'd finished with for Christmas 😞 then tell me how he's taken flowers to g is sisters grave. I don't know, it doesn't feel right. Do I expect too much. I had a 100$ gift voucher for him but just stuck with the three other smaller gifts for him. One was a coffee myg, I asked him if it was nice to drink out of, he snapped at me about always needing validation. I'm not sure - is it me?

Anyway, no decluttering today Darcy, just dishes lol

Re: SPRING-Clean Declutter - Need Help

Yes @Former-Member I did send several hampers to all my family members in Sydney, but didn't get special stuff (or presents) for myself.

That's what my psychologist wasn't happy about - I could see the look of disapproval on her face. Then she said that my homework was to buy some nice things for myself (including a bottle of Scotch).

I like Whiskey, but I rarely ever drink it - except when I was rarely given a bottle as a present, years ago.

So I bought one for myself, for about the first time ever. One N...p (Shot Glass) is equivalent to one standard sized drink, so you only have a little at a time.

Besides, being that expensive, you wouldn't want to drink it in a hurry...

Yes I'm very sensitive to noise too, it drives me totally bonkers.

Yes my self-care does need lots of work & improvement.

Re: SPRING-Clean Declutter - Need Help

Yep, thanks @Former-Member, I spoke up this time which he didn't like, acted all wounded and threatened to get in his car & go home... Told him "that would be an overreaction" They say we need to teach people how to treat us) and i realise its not all his fault - my mums too sick to mail anything for the first time ever, and its not his fault he's become my only child, or that i live alone... But it still hurts. Its not the lack comment f expense but tbe lack of thought. But, 2days later, Interesting thing is - today he bought me a small bunch of flowers from grocery store 🙂 - this is progress!! I fussed, and thanked him 🙂 There is hope lol.

Re: SPRING-Clean Declutter - Need Help

Hi @Former-Member

No - it's not you - you can be put of by just an off-hand and rude comment from your son - what an over-reaction for a question

I think he must have pulled his horns in because his behaviour improved but what he said indicates disrespect - and you don't deserve that

You are right - it's not your fault that your mother is critically ill and that circumstances have made him an only child and that you live alone and whatever happened to his father - he doesn't need to take it out on you

Through the years I have a bit of that from my daughter - she has spoken to me in ways I would never have spoken to my mother - and it can be so hard to take - but we do teach people how to treat us and ot seems you stood up for yourself

I am not expecting you had the best Christmas ever - but I continue to think of you and hope things are moving along and it must be so hard for you right now

Cyber-hugs sis - thinking of you
