Re: SPRING-Clean Declutter - Need Help

Hello fellow declutterers

Three more things dealt with today, slowly, slowly things looking a bit better. Can I gently remind you that even dealing with one thing a day can make a difference.

Was reminded this week that when it comes to a house feeling homely that a 7-8 out of 10 of stuff about is a comfortable range to aim for, a 10/10 being too sterile for most of us.

Re: SPRING-Clean Declutter - Need Help

@soul, I ask our kids if I can have a look over their discards before they hit the bin- because sometimes I've given them something that means more to me than it does to them. If so, I'm happy to resume custody. And if nothing else, it means the recycling among it ends up in the recycling bin.

We had some belongings wrecked by floodwater back in 2011, when a quarter of the state turned into a kind of inland sea. I salvaged a lot of what mattered the most, but there were a few keepsakes that were lost altogether, such as a book that my grandmother gave me as a child. So, while I'd say that most clutter is "just stuff", there's the treasures hiding among the stuff. Unfortunately there's no easy way of extracing those except piece by piece.

@Faith-and-Hope
Not surprised at all as it from artist Gail Reike's studio. @Smc posted it on another thread so I added it in here as I thought our fellow declutterers might get inspired by it.

@Faith-and-Hope@Former-Member, have a virtual look through the rest of her studio. I guess it's unsurprising that an artist should turn her storage into a work of art.
