Re: how to stave off feeling suicidal
@MDT as noone so far has written up anything I will tell a secret I have kept for 26 years and it might help. When I had my first child I had post natal depression (I have to be careful here to follow the guidelines) but I was really sick.
There was a time I could have done something that I would have regretted but I sought help straight away and nothing happened everyone was fine. Only I knew of what I had been thinking. My advice is to trust your gut and seek help straight away. Do not leave it until you are sick that you can no longer see reason.

There is always the helplines available too. I cant phone them so can only use chat when necessary. I have found the suicide call back line to be more responsive and helpful than lifeline but that is just my experience.
I like @Bunniekins 's advice too about seeking help. could you get an appt with your gp tomorrow for some extra support too?

@MDT there's this idea in Acceptance Commitment Therapy that I like. It's about turning off the 'struggle switch.' So you don't fight against painful thoughts, but just label them: I'm having the thought that ... e.g. nothing ever changes. Then sometimes it helps to see the thoughts coming and going and knowing that you don't have to act on them. Thinking of you.

Hey @Former-Member and @Bunniekins
Thanks for replying.
If i still feel this bad tomorrow night i might try giving them a call.
I dont want it to effect my eligibility for group support that starts on the 12th because ive been waiting 3 months for that.
I hate telling my folks because they get upset or dunno what to say so i dont bother telling them... but they usually can tell if not good at that point in time.

Re: how to stave off feeling suicidal
Strong thoughts of suicide are bloody scary. It's at that point, I head to hospital, as I can't trust that I won't follow through. The thoughts and plans are all consuming.
I understand your desire to start your group course. That can be a focal point. Focus on that desire to attend the group.
Use the suicide call back service - to help you through the toughest times.
Speak with your psychiatrist or gp about 'upping' your medication, for the short term.
LifeLine and Mens HelpLine are also available
