HOME

Well I'm finally home (again).
4 hospital stays in 91 days. Wow. No wonder it feels so strange to be in my own house again. Adjusting will take time. Cooking for myself will take time.
My house is in the same condition in which I left it. A pigsty. So no one room has warmth and charm to lift my mood. Will have to slowly start cleaning up - one room at a time.
I did go and watch my son play soccer in the finals. I'd been so sick this year - thst it was the first game I had been to all year. His team lost. But they play again next week. So still stand a chance of playing the grand final.
My son is still living with my mum. Has been since the end of April. Hopefully he will see how much I've improved on my new anti depressants and anti anxiety meds. Then he may choose to come home soon.
Was up and doing the washing early this morning. But now reading a book in bed.
Am very bored. But have AA Meeting tomorrow night.
And I have my WorkCover IME (independent Medical Examination) - psych interview with a tough psychiatric on the 30th of this month. Think it could be on Wednesday. And then I have my much waited for Psychologist appointment. Can't see him when I'm in hospital (too far away).
So that's it for now. A new thread for a new beginning.

And remember not to beat yourself up
And throw in the towel if you don’t achieve something you wanted to @utopia ..... scrap the, “oh well, I might as well _____ then ....” and write off the rest of the day or more ...... instead, give yiurs of an hour to get over a “fail” and then move on ..... it’s a new hour, just get up, pick up the reigns and start off again ......

💜💐

Re: HOME

@utopia Wow that is a lot to get done for hospital homecoming. I am gently working on my son about that and he does pick up more these days. He is a lot older than your boy.It seems to have become acceptable for older children to drop clothes on the floor. I certainly would not have been able to maintain a presence or daily demand that he pick up as keeping the peace during difficult teen years seemed a wiser approach. I see it as a silent stand off regarding women's work. (invisible work as there is both the job done and the emotional wearing down, as in we are more likely to "give in" and do the job.) In earlier years they had less clothes and needed to get them into the wash in order to have something half decent to wear.

Worrying about when and how much to drink all day would be a form of ongoing torture for me.

I have struggled with addictions though not alcohol. Mostly I managed to put them completely out of my life, and eventually they have become out of sight out of mind.

I sip my water bottle and have glasses of water around during the day. Its a thing. I dont think I had ready access to water as a kid. Anyway in last couple of years I often have half a squeezed lemon or a teaspoon of "apple cider with the mother". I have gotten used to the taste and it is supposed to be helpful for metabolism ... There is enough stuff on the net about it .. so I dont feel a complete loon.

Thinking of you and wishing you the best.

@Former-Member - well done for brushing your teeth. That's a win for the day

Re: HOME

Coming home was likely to be a big adjustment after being in hospital and having everything regulated for you @utopia.

Alcohol - it tastes nice and it makes you feel good, helps you to relax and numbs the awful stuff going on in your head. I get that. There were times I would 'reward" myself - Friday afternoon drinks. Then it became every day at a couple of stages.

Having it in the house is a big attraction. Can you at least hide it away?

Also, perhaps there is something that you could substitute it with whether it be another non alcoholic beverage or an activity that makes you feel calm.

I like the idea of writing down a schedule and noting your achievements.

Keep at it. It will get better. You will get better.

A dash of Apple Cider Vinegar in a glass of water is nice .....

Re: HOME

Just found out that a fellow patient that I have known from my hospital stays, passed away last Thursday. I thought he was discharged from the hospital. Apparently not.

Am devastated.
