HOME

Well I'm finally home (again).
4 hospital stays in 91 days. Wow. No wonder it feels so strange to be in my own house again. Adjusting will take time. Cooking for myself will take time.
My house is in the same condition in which I left it. A pigsty. So no one room has warmth and charm to lift my mood. Will have to slowly start cleaning up - one room at a time.
I did go and watch my son play soccer in the finals. I'd been so sick this year - thst it was the first game I had been to all year. His team lost. But they play again next week. So still stand a chance of playing the grand final.
My son is still living with my mum. Has been since the end of April. Hopefully he will see how much I've improved on my new anti depressants and anti anxiety meds. Then he may choose to come home soon.
Was up and doing the washing early this morning. But now reading a book in bed.
Am very bored. But have AA Meeting tomorrow night.
And I have my WorkCover IME (independent Medical Examination) - psych interview with a tough psychiatric on the 30th of this month. Think it could be on Wednesday. And then I have my much waited for Psychologist appointment. Can't see him when I'm in hospital (too far away).
So that's it for now. A new thread for a new beginning.

@soul @Shaz51 @Faith-and-Hope
Did a lot of sleeping today. Was exhausted from tje emotional day yesterday.
I see my psychologist tomorrow morning which will be good.
And my best friend is coming over and we'll go for a short walk together.
Got home from hospital to find my car had a flat tyre. Got a new one today. They came and did it at my place - which was good.
A guy came to quote on getting my front and back yard done. Then we have to wait for WorkCover to approve the work.
I did grocery shopping. Was nothing in the house to eat. Last night all my son atewas some garlic bread I had in the freezer.
Tonight I cooked spaghetti. Something easy.
I also cleaned up the dishes my son had left in the kitchen and did a full load of his laundry that I found on his bedroom floor.
Watched MaFS and then read a bit of Stan Grants book.
Now off to bed

Re: HOME

Yep @utopia. I agree with @Faith-and-Hope - a very goood day. Well - the flat tyre wasn't but at least it's been sorted too.

Tidy up for the yard sounds good. I am having the big trees in my front yard trimmed back this weekend.

All the best with your psych appointment and hooray for friends who walk with you, especially best friends.

Garlic is good for you so don't stress about that one.

Washing clothes and dishes, stocking up on groceries and cooking a meal - four ticks there.

Watching the tele and reading - two ticks for leisure pursuits.

Hope you have another good day and then another.

Re: HOME

Went and saw my pdychologist. He has writtenup a roster for me to follow - from 8am wake up - til 12.30 lunch. He said we wwill start with that for a week. And during the week I need to think of some socializing activities that I can incorporate into my day / week.
He says only I can stop drinking. He went over again how alcohol affects me personally. I've come home and am having a drink now.
FAIL.
That's a hard one to crack.
I've hung up a load of washing and am now washing my clothes.
Will wash little Abbey soon and put her new collar on. I also got a new collar for my Labrador. This collar has glow in the dark features. Which is great. She is black and I can't see her at night in the backyard. So this should help.

Re: HOME

Hi @utopia ....

Can I suggest you try weaning yourself off the drink ? If you draw a line on a glass and only fill it to there ..... once it’s gone, no more for the day ..... so you can take sips across the day, or drink it in one sitting, but set that as a boundary ..... just that glassful, and no more.

Next week (pick a day, doesn’t have to be Monday, drop the line on the glass by half a centumetre ...... and that becomes the new boundary.

The week after, down another half-centimetre again ..... and continue dropping the level in the glass.

Once it’s down to shot-glass size (and you can down-size actual glasses if that helps) make it one glass for two days ..... then stretch it to three ......

What do you think ? Want to give it a try ?

People have to wean themselves off cigarettes, chocolate, sugar, caffeine and a whole load of other addictions, and this is the usual way ..... easing back out of it the way you came in ..... by degrees.

Re: HOME

hi @Faith-and-Hope and @utopia,

i like your suggestions Faith-and-Hope 🙂 sometimes the 'ween off method' can be very helpful especially if someone has good impulse control. however, in saying that, I personally would avoid sipping on a drink across the day. it could contribute to a habit (or worsening behaviour) because of the repeated sippings over time.

Re: HOME

Thanks @Faith-and-Hope. I had cut down to 2 to 3 weak glasses a day b4 I went to hospital. But it's too much.
I like your idea of a line on a glass and only that glass for the day.
I can start that tomorrow.
Another thing I'll be doing - is at the end of the day - writing a list of everything I've done that day.
From the basics like brush my teeth or hair - to the household chores, exercise and socialising. So that each day I can see what I have achieved. Amd small things count.
Have now hung up second load of washing. Have washed Abbey and am now washing her bedding.
