HOME

Well I'm finally home (again).
4 hospital stays in 91 days. Wow. No wonder it feels so strange to be in my own house again. Adjusting will take time. Cooking for myself will take time.
My house is in the same condition in which I left it. A pigsty. So no one room has warmth and charm to lift my mood. Will have to slowly start cleaning up - one room at a time.
I did go and watch my son play soccer in the finals. I'd been so sick this year - thst it was the first game I had been to all year. His team lost. But they play again next week. So still stand a chance of playing the grand final.
My son is still living with my mum. Has been since the end of April. Hopefully he will see how much I've improved on my new anti depressants and anti anxiety meds. Then he may choose to come home soon.
Was up and doing the washing early this morning. But now reading a book in bed.
Am very bored. But have AA Meeting tomorrow night.
And I have my WorkCover IME (independent Medical Examination) - psych interview with a tough psychiatric on the 30th of this month. Think it could be on Wednesday. And then I have my much waited for Psychologist appointment. Can't see him when I'm in hospital (too far away).
So that's it for now. A new thread for a new beginning.

Re: HOME

@utopia It sounds like you could benefit from accountability.

Can you try putting those things into a tick-list to show the psych at your next appointment ... with maybe one of the daily tick-boxes being for alcohol-free too.

Re: HOME

Hi @utopia - Your psychiatrist is right. Alcohol just does damage - it doesn't help anything... plus it costs money. Have you thought about doing an online course or going to a TAFE to fill in your days plus you'll be retraining yourself for a return to work? Open Colleges do certficate level courses and you get to pace yourself or most TAFEs let you study part time if you want to study on Campus. You might even be able to get Workcover to pay for it? Worth a shot anyway. I hope you're having a good day.

Re: HOME

Funny you should mention that @Former-Member.I'm thinking of enrolling part time in Aboriginal Studies under an arts degree. My psychologist has been recommending that I attended Uni
Go back and study and use my brain again and socialize at the same time.
And as these AD's are working, now would be a good time. Plus it will occupy my time usefully.

Re: HOME

Hi @utopia - six hours of leave and not enough to do. I would be flat out filling my time as well. I work from home - that can be socially isolating but it does fill my week days whilst also allowing me some flexibility.

I was never one though to while away the time in a cafe. I know that @Faith-and-Hope does this frequently but I would feel too self conscious and prefer the comfort of my own domain. I also don't drink coffee and I think that is part of the cafe culture. A cup of herbal tea is something I can easily knock up myself. It doesn't have the same appeal as a barista made coffee.

Good idea to ease off or even give up the booze - meds can be tricky at the best of times.

I reckon study could be a good option for you. I remember that you were contemplating this quite some time ago.

All the best with your upcoming transition back home again. I hope there is a lot of support put in place for you on the outside.

Hi @utopia

Can you remember good things about a time when you did not drink? Perhaps hang overs are not bad enough to put you off. If you find enough reasons to quit maybe we can help you online. Study does sounds like a good idea when you ar eready.

Re: HOME

I'm going home tomorrow.
Bloody nervous. Wondering if I can do this. Lots of negative self talk
Trying to ignore it. Trying not to cry.
Psychiatrist is upping my anti depressant again tomorrow.
