HOME

Well I'm finally home (again).
4 hospital stays in 91 days. Wow. No wonder it feels so strange to be in my own house again. Adjusting will take time. Cooking for myself will take time.
My house is in the same condition in which I left it. A pigsty. So no one room has warmth and charm to lift my mood. Will have to slowly start cleaning up - one room at a time.
I did go and watch my son play soccer in the finals. I'd been so sick this year - thst it was the first game I had been to all year. His team lost. But they play again next week. So still stand a chance of playing the grand final.
My son is still living with my mum. Has been since the end of April. Hopefully he will see how much I've improved on my new anti depressants and anti anxiety meds. Then he may choose to come home soon.
Was up and doing the washing early this morning. But now reading a book in bed.
Am very bored. But have AA Meeting tomorrow night.
And I have my WorkCover IME (independent Medical Examination) - psych interview with a tough psychiatric on the 30th of this month. Think it could be on Wednesday. And then I have my much waited for Psychologist appointment. Can't see him when I'm in hospital (too far away).
So that's it for now. A new thread for a new beginning.

Re: HOME

Balance and memory @utopia - sounds good. I keep meaning to listen to some podcasts on stuff like that. Need to keep those brain cells healthy.

Are you heading over to Friday Feast tonight?

Re: HOME

Sorry @soul. Just got your message. No I don't go to Friday Feast. The conversation is a bit too fast for me. .

Re: HOME

You weren't hogging the conversation @TAB
I just find Friday Feast conversation moves quickly all the time. My brain at the moment needs things a bit slower.

Hi @utopia, Sorry, sorry! I must of read a really old post when I said I was glad you were home, or my brain played tricks on me, I have now caught up with the last few days posts and get the whole current picture. So glad you are feeling more yourself, what a long hard haul you have had. You are doing a good job, glad you have a supportive Psych,

Love and waves, Moongal

Re: HOME

My psych gave me 6 hours leave today. He wanted me to go into the city. I said no. Far to many people.
So I did some window shopping near the hospital. Tried to take my time and fill up the day. Bought a top. Bought some wool to knit a scarf for my niece. Did tattslotto. Went to McDonalds. Sat at the park.
Back at hospital in under 2 hours. It's not fun shopping or eating on your own.
Back at hospital I realised there was nothing todo. So I slept a good 3 & 1/2 hours. Just ccrying in bed.
I'd only filled two hours today. How am I going to go at home where I need to fill my days up? Mum spoke to my psych on Friday. He said I have to stop drinking. He can't treat me if I continue to drink. Coz alcohol just stops the anti depressants from working.
He told mum that I am going to have to fill in my days and keep busy. To stop me from drinking and to stop me from sleeping.
Now feel frightened that I won't be able to do it.
Yes the medication and dose is probably right. But the rest is up to me.
Scared and lonely

Re: HOME

Hi @utopia .....

Can you work with the psych to develop a daily, and then weekly schedule ? I think it used to help housewives manage a lot of ups and downs when they had washing day, ironing day, shopping day, household accounts day, clean the floors day, clean the bathrooms day ......

It can be as simple as “having to” make the bed, do a load of washing every day, plan dinner and shop for it, wipe over the bathroom handbasin and toilet, walk the dog, get the dishes done once a day .....

I do things like this. Most of my housework is done in 10 minute intervals. I can manage 10 minutes, even when I am tired or don’t particularly feel like doing it.

Add in 10 minutes knitting that scarf, with the option to do more if you feel like it .... and maybe a piece of artwork once a week as homework for the psych ? He can set the topic for you perhaps ?
