HOME

Well I'm finally home (again).
4 hospital stays in 91 days. Wow. No wonder it feels so strange to be in my own house again. Adjusting will take time. Cooking for myself will take time.
My house is in the same condition in which I left it. A pigsty. So no one room has warmth and charm to lift my mood. Will have to slowly start cleaning up - one room at a time.
I did go and watch my son play soccer in the finals. I'd been so sick this year - thst it was the first game I had been to all year. His team lost. But they play again next week. So still stand a chance of playing the grand final.
My son is still living with my mum. Has been since the end of April. Hopefully he will see how much I've improved on my new anti depressants and anti anxiety meds. Then he may choose to come home soon.
Was up and doing the washing early this morning. But now reading a book in bed.
Am very bored. But have AA Meeting tomorrow night.
And I have my WorkCover IME (independent Medical Examination) - psych interview with a tough psychiatric on the 30th of this month. Think it could be on Wednesday. And then I have my much waited for Psychologist appointment. Can't see him when I'm in hospital (too far away).
So that's it for now. A new thread for a new beginning.

Re: HOME

Hi @utopia - hope you've had a good day. Any appointments this week? Any AA meetings?

Re: HOME

@soul. Went to an AA Meeting yesterday afternoon. Forgot to go to tonights. As it's school holidays, my son doesn't have soccer training, so I could have gone to the meeting.

Washing machine repair man coming on Wednesday when I'm in Melbourne, so mum will be here to let them in. So I couldn't wait any more, I needed clean clothes - so I did 3 loads of washing at the laundrymat.

Tonight have clean sheets on my bed. And tomorrow will have clean clothes to wear.

I cooked a very tasty spaghetti tonight. Was really good. Used egg noodles instead of wheat based. Deliscious.

So all in all a good day.

I hope your day went well.

Re: HOME

Don't you just love freshly laundered sheets? I washed mine too today and my doona cover. I have extra sheets but I love to put the ones I just washed on the bed. They smell of sunshine. Tomorrow I will wash the winter dressing gowns and the throw rugs. I think we have seen the last of the cold weather here. Supposed to be 36 degrees later in the week. Seems like we skipped spring and went straight to summer ☀️🔥

Will you do something special with your son during the holidays? Yum at the spag bol. Hope you got plenty of leftovers. It tastes better the next day I reckon.

Gonna hit the sack now. 😴

Re: HOME

Hi @utopia,

it sounds like you are doing really well. One thing I have found is that when you take action, it seems to lead to more action... then gradually you find yourself having busy days, without even having to think about it.

The human brain loves activity.... it loves having something to do. It doesn't really matter if we are chopping up vegetables or composing a symphony for an orchestra!! Activity is activity.... and the brain appreciates it all. People are happiest when they engage in activities - doing nothing is not great for brain function.

@utopia, I have those flat days, too. Even though I seem to have enough to do. I think it's normal for some of us - I won't say it's "normal for everyone", because I've noticed my husband never gets flat.

But people like you and me- we have our down days. I have lost track of the times I have thought to myself "Oh no, I hope I am not getting depressed again. I feel really low." But so far, touch wood, it hasn't happened, even though I have had to cope with my Mum dying, etc. I still seem to be basically alright and have not become depressed.

Someone else also wrote here- have a tool-box you can access at any time you need it, with things that will make you feel better. For me- it's putting on some of my favorite music and letting it carry me away. Or sometimes it's reading a few pages from one of my favorite books.

And baking! Just making some simple cup-cakes. (You can always freeze them if you don't need them.)

Doing some yoga stretches and deep breathing also help.

Have a good day, @utopia. xxx

Re: HOME

Thank you @Sahara for your wise words. Yes, I got myself into an awful tizz - worrying that feeling flat will lead me straight back to into depression. I guess it's about learning feelings again. Everyone has down days. They are part of life and I need to remember that.

Re: HOME

Special day tomorrow @utopia - shhhhh.

Give yourself plenty of time to get to your appointment. Do you have a GPS device that you can use? And don't pay any attention to impatient drivers. Could your sister go with you or is that not possible?

I wish you all the best with the psych visit and picking up that painting. Can't wait to see a photo of it.

Sweet dreams, get plenty of rest.

Re: HOME

Thanks @soul. Have taken meds to help me sleep. Can't drive if I haven't slept.
Hopefully I'll nod off in the next half hour.
