HOME

Well I'm finally home (again).
4 hospital stays in 91 days. Wow. No wonder it feels so strange to be in my own house again. Adjusting will take time. Cooking for myself will take time.
My house is in the same condition in which I left it. A pigsty. So no one room has warmth and charm to lift my mood. Will have to slowly start cleaning up - one room at a time.
I did go and watch my son play soccer in the finals. I'd been so sick this year - thst it was the first game I had been to all year. His team lost. But they play again next week. So still stand a chance of playing the grand final.
My son is still living with my mum. Has been since the end of April. Hopefully he will see how much I've improved on my new anti depressants and anti anxiety meds. Then he may choose to come home soon.
Was up and doing the washing early this morning. But now reading a book in bed.
Am very bored. But have AA Meeting tomorrow night.
And I have my WorkCover IME (independent Medical Examination) - psych interview with a tough psychiatric on the 30th of this month. Think it could be on Wednesday. And then I have my much waited for Psychologist appointment. Can't see him when I'm in hospital (too far away).
So that's it for now. A new thread for a new beginning.

Re: HOME

Thank you @Ali11 @BlueBay @Owlunar

If I get a payout the lawyer will likely take a quarter to a third of it. So I won't really get much.

Yes, one day at a time. I just noticed a few days ago, "hey, I'm feeling better ".

Re: HOME

It's a nice feeling when that happens @utopia, some days you just have a moment when you realise you're feeling good and you hadn't noticed because it's unexpected

Re: HOME

So I'm in the hospital that I used to work for. Not enjoying myself.

Went to my gp yesterday because my thumb has been turning blue and getting very cold. She was pretty worried and told me to go to the ED in the large town 50 minutes away.

I wait in emergency. Finally I'm seen. They stick a Camila in my hand. I have a CT or a CAT, I don't know what the difference is. They put contrast through the Camila. Very strange feeling. You go hot from your head to your privates. Can't tell if you're weeing or not. Lol.

Back to the waiting room for the second time. Finally after 7 half hours I get taken back in. Blood pressure medicine needle in my stomach. Tablets to thin the blood. Blah blah blah. Since 5.30 they had been talking about transferring me to a hospital in Melbourne that has a vascular team. Didn't happen. Don't know why.

At 2am they move me to a bed on the ward. Opposite nurses desk, where it's noisy all night. Then they wake me at 5.30 for breakfast because I have to fast from 6am, as they still expect to transfer me to big city hospital. By 8.30 I'd seen both doctors, mine and head of surgery. At 10am I'm told I'm being discharged. At 1.30 they told me my medication script they are writing out, will cost $120 per script. I explain can't afford that and give them the name of blood thinner I used to be on. At4. 30 I'm told that medication is the one that costs $120.i said no, I've got it for $6.60 - I have a health care card. The nurse then explains, if my problem was in my veins it would cost $6.60 - but because it's my artery, it's not on the pad and so costs $120. What the????

I don't understand.

So all this time we are waiting for the senior surgeon to change my script. The bastard never showed up.!!!!!!! That's how bad this place is.

So it's now after 10.30pm. I stink. I don't have a change of clothes. My mouth is furry, don't have tooth brush. I'm in a ward with 2 other women and one man. There is a man sleeping in the corridor outside my room.

So today, they didn't get my one medication sorted out, and they still haven't arranged the ultra sound on my arm.

The CT showed a thinning to the artery that was not caused by plaque but they can't tell why its thin and not getting the blood to my hand. So you'd think sometime today they could have taken me downstairs for the ultra sound.

Anyway. 2 more needles in my tummy. A lot more tablets. This is now night 2 without my anti psychotic, because they dont have it at this hospital and because I was told I was going home at 10 this morning, I didn't ask mum to bring it to me.

The room temperature seems to be set on 25 degrees. It's a sauna in our ward.

One of the nurses just brought me some sandwiches because I've been starving. Yum.

So, my plan is to leave the hospital by 10am tomorrow. With or without the script. I'll go home, have a shower and mum will drive me to Melbourne and take me to a good hospital. There I will get my scans and be treated by the vascular team.

So I'll finish eating my sandwiches and try to sleep through the noise of my snoring room mate.

Oh @utopia, what an ordeal! You would think having worked there that they'd be more forthcoming with information and ensuring that you're taken care of while you're in there. How did you go today?

Oh @utopia that’s terrible. I hope it gets sorted out at the Melbourne hospital. Wishing you all the best. ❤️❤️

Re: HOME

So Wednesday comes. I'm given another jab in the stomach. They really hurt. Doctor comes and sees me and says I will go home today. They are changing my blood thinner script to one under PBS so I can afford it. But I'll still have to have the tummy injections, twice a day, for 3 more days.

Finally at 3.15pm I am discharged, with a big list of what is to happen to me.

I have an appointment next week for a CT scan of my chest Andi, and pelvis. I have an appointment with a vascular surgeon about 2 hours away. I will get an Echo done in the next 2 weeks and then a followup Ultrasound next month.

So I've now started the oral blood thinner. But still have to get injections morning and night. But they are done at our local private hospital, under agreement with the public hospital.

You should see my stomach. It is so bruised. It's really sore.

Friday they blood test me to see if my IRN is at the right levels. Got to make sure blood not too thick or too runny. Lol.

So at least things are getting done.. My thumb is still blue and cold and sore. Coldness and soreness have now spread to next finger.

But I have a packet of salty chips to eat for a snack, so I'm happy.

Thanks everyone @BlueBay @Ali11 @Shaz51
