HOME

Well I'm finally home (again).
4 hospital stays in 91 days. Wow. No wonder it feels so strange to be in my own house again. Adjusting will take time. Cooking for myself will take time.
My house is in the same condition in which I left it. A pigsty. So no one room has warmth and charm to lift my mood. Will have to slowly start cleaning up - one room at a time.
I did go and watch my son play soccer in the finals. I'd been so sick this year - thst it was the first game I had been to all year. His team lost. But they play again next week. So still stand a chance of playing the grand final.
My son is still living with my mum. Has been since the end of April. Hopefully he will see how much I've improved on my new anti depressants and anti anxiety meds. Then he may choose to come home soon.
Was up and doing the washing early this morning. But now reading a book in bed.
Am very bored. But have AA Meeting tomorrow night.
And I have my WorkCover IME (independent Medical Examination) - psych interview with a tough psychiatric on the 30th of this month. Think it could be on Wednesday. And then I have my much waited for Psychologist appointment. Can't see him when I'm in hospital (too far away).
So that's it for now. A new thread for a new beginning.

@Bella1978. Mum is still in intense pain any time she moves or breathes or coughs. She has torn her Intercostal muscle. Which are the muscles that intertwine between your chest and ribs. Hers is up high. She'll be in hospital for a while yet.

Yes her dog has severe anxiety. She finally put him on meds 1 month ago and last week doubled the dose. She thinks the meds are starting to work. I can't see any change yet. He's hyper vigilant - he's half Tibetan spaniel - so if you look up their personality, you will see why he is, like he is.

He ' operator's other dogs. He's stayed here before. And always sleeps with my son. Coz he normally sleeps with my mum. He's missing her terribly, so I don't think I will see any change with the meds.

Mum's loving the food at the hospital. Really yummy and filling. And the head of the hospital came in today 're:-the cleaning of her room. Because mum is chemically sensitive. So that lady has gone to buy some velvet soap. They will use a,cloth just for mum's room and wash it out with the velvet soap, away from mum. They are really good with looking after her. Most hospitals don't accommodate chemically sensitive patients. So mum is happy. But depressed about the pain.

We went shopping on Saturday to look at an electric recliner chair. I told her to get one with all the bells and whistles, so that it will last her for life, in case her mobility deteriorates. Lol. So now she can't even go home til she gets the chair. As she can't get out of a normal chair. And she sleeps in her chair and has done for years. So we are trying to organise to get the right chair - in black - delivered asap.

I don't know how you have done this for 2 months!!!! The back and forwards to get her clothes or other things.

I drop her dog off at her house in th morning. Go back at 2pm and toilet him and give him his meds. Visit mum. Then pick up her dog and bring him back here before nightfall.

My son's school concert is tonight. 6 til 9.30pm. Her dog won't like being on his own here. But he'll be happy when my son comes home.

Feel I could sleep for days

Hi @utopia

you've got so much on your plate at the moment. Sorry that your mum is in so much pain. That would be so hard for her especially as you get older. At least she's in good hands and been looked after. She's in the right place.

How are you coping. Sounds like you need a good night sleep.

I wish your mum a speedy recovery.

Thinking of you my friend

Re: HOME

Hi @utopia

I read about your Mum yesterday but didn't get back to write a post - I am so sorry she is in pain - I will have to read back on your thread to find out what happened for her but pulling those intercostal muscles is really painful and I guess there is bruising around the site as well - I hope they give her enough pain medication but one problem is breathing - we all have to breathe and that keeps a sore muscle and sore ribs moving when they want to rest

I really feel for her - and for you - and your son and the little dog as well - so much stress -

How is the weather where you are - north of the Divide? Melbourne has been turning on fog and chilly weather generally - bleak and cloudy - I will certainly post better better news on the weather when it happens

If the weather is as bleak where you are it will make it harder on your Mum too - on all of you

I am wishing your family the best

Re: HOME

I had not seen you on the forum much and was wondering where you were. @utopia Sounds very busy! Sorry your mother is hurting and in hospital. Good that you could organise a suitable place for her though.

Yes many pets needs meds. I guess it is an attempt to improve living standards all round.

I hope tonight has been a pleasant musical distraction with your son.

Your Truly

Hi @Appleblossom@Owlunar@BlueBay@Bella1978.

Concert was long. Lots of offset singing. Some great instrument playing. Some real talent.

North of the divide is bloody cold. At 5.30 this, afternoon, blanketed in thick fog down to the ground. Frost already on the grass in areas in my backyard.

Hope to be asleep by midnight.

Re: HOME

Thank you @BlueBay.

Mum is still in hospital. She won't be coming home until the recliner lift chair she's ordered arrives at her house. She can't get out of a normal chair. So she needs the chair that helps raise you into a standing position.

She also needs to organise meals on wheels, as she can't cook. And I'm concerned about her and how she will cope with her dog. Don't want him getting underfoot and possibly making her fall.

The hospital Dr believes her CRPS (chronic regional pain syndrome) is most likely in her chest now - as well as her right shoulder and left leg. And they are keeping an eye out for Shingles, as her chest feels boiling hot on the inside.

With her auto immune disease, including fibromyalgia, her pain is more intense than the average person, and the injury can cause more complications - like the CRPS now moving into that injured site.

I'm off to the supermarket soon to buy her some banana follies that she's requested.

Will just have to wait and see what happens.

@bella1978. II hope your mum is doing better. Did she go for the home visit?

Re: HOME

So last night I tried to talk to my son about the comments made by Barry Hall on live tv, where he made a so called 'joke' about rape. I thought it would be a good opportunity to teach my son about speaking up when people say these things. But he just walked away when I was talking.

So today when visiting mum at the hospital, we were discussing the 'incident'. I turned to my son and said, "when you encounter these types of comments, and you will, I hope you will tell them that it's not funny and it's not appropriate to say it.

He turned to me and said, "Oh God mum, we're not all as Schitzo as you". I then told him, not to ever use that expression. And NEVER, EVER WITH ME. And how about he get some empathy. How could you say that to your mum, knowing I've been hospitalized for my mental illness.

He just shrugged and went back to playing on his phone.

I'm (swear word starting with F)-pissed off.

One: I thought that with my mum and I as the primary people who are raising him, that he would have an understanding and empathy of the constant slander and sexual innuendos that we women face.

Two: where is his empathy for understanding mental illness. Especially mine. Where is his understanding of the trauma I suffered at work and the worse treatment I copped from my workplace after I applied and was accepted for WorkCover?

Even after I said that a woman's greatest fear, and it's a legitimate fear, is being raped. No response.

I'm devastated and angry and disappointed that he acts this way. Where did I go wrong in raising him? Is he going to be one off these 'blokes' who laughs at rape jokes?

Tomorrow I'm sending him to his dad's for the week. I'm furious!!!!!!

Re: HOME

That 'like' is simply to let you know I stand right beside you in your anger @utopia and hope that your son does actually get why you are furious at his obviously unempathetic position. I do hope it is simply him not caring about anything apart from himself and that he never knows the trauma that women go through in that sitauion. As for his comment to you - totally unacceptable and good on you for sending him to his father!

Re: HOME

@utopia, that's awful. I hope his father might be more sensible than your son at the moment. Is it possible he was mainly trying to rebel against anything you said? From memory, he is at that age when rebellion is not uncommon. I agree with your position on both matters. But it doesn't mean you have to drink. You have come so far to reach 90 days without. Bear in mind that I am still in the grip of my own vices. But when I gave up the green for 6 months a while back, it was just one smoke that hooked me back on it in full force again. I'm in the process of cutting back again. But I wish I hadn't had that one smoke.
