HOME

Well I'm finally home (again).
4 hospital stays in 91 days. Wow. No wonder it feels so strange to be in my own house again. Adjusting will take time. Cooking for myself will take time.
My house is in the same condition in which I left it. A pigsty. So no one room has warmth and charm to lift my mood. Will have to slowly start cleaning up - one room at a time.
I did go and watch my son play soccer in the finals. I'd been so sick this year - thst it was the first game I had been to all year. His team lost. But they play again next week. So still stand a chance of playing the grand final.
My son is still living with my mum. Has been since the end of April. Hopefully he will see how much I've improved on my new anti depressants and anti anxiety meds. Then he may choose to come home soon.
Was up and doing the washing early this morning. But now reading a book in bed.
Am very bored. But have AA Meeting tomorrow night.
And I have my WorkCover IME (independent Medical Examination) - psych interview with a tough psychiatric on the 30th of this month. Think it could be on Wednesday. And then I have my much waited for Psychologist appointment. Can't see him when I'm in hospital (too far away).
So that's it for now. A new thread for a new beginning.

Re: HOME

Hey @utopia - a big day out for you. Sometimes we sleep when there's not much else to fill our day. Perhaps you could join @Former-Member and do some decluttering.

I had to laugh at my daughter who chastises me for buying multiple grocery items when they are on special. She told me this morning that she likes the minimalistic look - (then paused and continued) - in the living areas. I did point out that these items were in cupboards.

Obviously that philosophy doesn't apply to her bedrooom or bathroom. I gave her the bedroom with the ensuite so I didn't have to venture in there too often.

Re: HOME

Hi @utopia - that's good sleep advice from your psychiatrist. I did a sleep program a while ago and I'll pass on a few things I learnt:

  • Never take naps no matter how tired you are during the day
  • Go to sleep and get up at the same time every day so you establish a routine
  • If you go to bed and can't sleep get up and do some light activity like cleaning or reading then try again but still get up at the same time in the morning - don't sleep in
  • Work out how much sleep you need - eight hours maximum for an adult (some people can get by on as little as four hours a night)

I found it really helpful - I can give you the details if you want.

Hi @utopia - how are you feeling after your big day out yesterday? Still recovering? Got any plans? Next appointment? Just being a cockatoo?

Re: HOME

@soul. Cockies rarely have sticky beaks. Lol.
Am okay today. Flat. But awake.
Had an appointment with my psychologist this morning. Told him I have no motivation to do anything. I want a magic pill. He said I can go on 'existing' as I am. Do something - small steps. Or die. The choice is mine. Harsh but honest. I like that approach. Still haven't decided which step to take. So today it's simply existing.
@Former-Member. Thanks for the sleep information. I think you should write it up as a new thread and put more detail in there.
There are many of us who would benefit from this information - especially the finer details.

Re: HOME

@utopia. Awake is good. Magic pill - hmmmm? Not sure if there is one. Existing is okay for today. Doing something is a good idea. Just have to work out what. That's the tricky part.

I have a heap more cockatoo pics so you better be around for a long time yet.

Re: HOME

Hey @utopia. I am still struggling with much of the same as you. The thing that has helped me the most this year has been going to a psychosocial program once or twice a week. These are days I have to get up for and get going on and I get out of my head. The one I'm doing now I actually really enjoy and have found I look forward to it.

I dont think it matters what is is but having something that you have to get up and going a few times a week helps lots. For me that has to be something I commit to and don't want to let down anyone by not going. Is there something in your town or surrounding ones that you could do or join even if it's only an hour a week?

Thinking of you and knowing how tough it is being hostage to 4walls and an overwhelming amount of jobs to be done when it's hard to see the point.

Sending hugs your way 💜🤗💐

Re: HOME

PS @utopia I was thinking of a land care group or history group or something that might be interesting and rewarding. I'm not sure what is your way but there are often groups in towns that are involved in landcare projects.
