LGBTI folk

Hey, I just wanted to start a thread here in case there are others struggling with all the media crap around this postal survey. Everywhere I go in the community people are finding it really hard so I thought people here must also be.

I am.

Maybe we can just make a space to take care of each other. I feel that we really need to do that right now. This atrocity is going to continue for months.

Re: LGBTI folk

Ive been meaning to ask a question but have been hesitant i must admit and i wasnt sure how to word it.

But no time like the present.

Please bare with me.....

After having a think the other day about how others 'label ' themselves as bi but are many forms for example some are just sexually attracted to the same sex but arent wanting a long term relationship....

Now heres my predicament...

I identify myself as Bisexual but would this still be the case if while im comfortable and interested in both genders and not just sexually i mean for the long haul but i would prefer a male (im female btw just for those who dont know)

Would being comfortable and interested in both but gravitating towards male still be classed as Bi?

This is probably making no sense whatsoever so if its not clear please do say something.

Re: LGBTI folk

I can hear what you are saying here @outlander.

My answer is for you to 'label' yourself with whatever you feel comfortable. If you are attracted to both genders, I would classify you as 'Bi'. For instance, before I properly 'came out', I was actually married for the long haul so to speak to a male even though I obviously was also attracted to females. I then labelled myself as 'bisexual' despite not actually having any relationship with a member of the same sex.

After I left my ex-husband, I re-evaluated things in my life and what I wanted in a relationship. It turned out I wanted to be someone of the same sex.

Just remember, they are only labels. You be what you are the most comfortable with and classify yourself as.

Re: LGBTI folk

I havent come out at all @Queenie
Im not ashamed or embarrassed at all by the term by and really it sits well with me.

I just thought you had to be equally attracted to both sexes and not gravitating towards just one gender.
Ive never been in a relstionship with a woman. Ive had 2 short term bf's nothing serious

How do you really find out what your comfortable with. I mean never really having a relationship with either so i dont have the best experiences i suppose.

I guess whats holding me back a bit is the fear of judgement with the people around me, you know the situation so font have to say it and denying and confusion i have towards others

Re: LGBTI folk

I am not sure @outlander. I've always been attracted to the female form, well before I had a relationship with either sex. Having said that I sort of pushed my feelings aside because of the shame and stigma associated with being a lesbian. So I settled down and got married to a man. We had an okay relationship and yes, at first I was attracted to him too, so I guess you could've said I am bisexual. These days I feel I am being true to myself and am in a same sex relationship, so consider myself lesbian.

I don't know how you 'know' which to label yourself, or even if you have to. I think in these modern ages you don't have to feel the need to specify, or should I say, you shouldn't feel the need to specify. For me, I knew growing up and maturing into myself that I was more attracted to girls, even though I'd been with both so my choice was easy. I think you can be fluid with which gender you prefer too.
