Re: sick of this sh*t

Hi @MDT

Why do you hate yourself?

Are you sure you're wasting time? I was always trying to be more and more productive and get more and more things done in a day and tried to be perfect at all of them at the same time. I feel that is what the media and all our education tells us to do. I used apps that restricted access to internet, had daily, weekly, monthly, yearly planners with alarms... and what for? Who defines what wasting time means?

How are you wasting your time?

Re: sick of this sh*t

hey
thanks for checking by
im just fed up with myself because it feels like ive moving around in circles in regards to my mental health and that ive been moving around in circles with life just generally...
feels like i have less friends than i have in the past
feels like i have no hopes for the future
feels like if i dont sort out my sh*t now i wont get anywhere in life because im about to graduate but not have anything to do with my degree (arts) because its so general and broad
ive been stuck at uni all this time and havent been getting anywhere socially because it seems like everyone has a group they are a part of and i just keep drifting about.
I hate myself because of all of this.

Re: sick of this sh*t

Hi @MDT
that does sound really hard. I also struggled with developing any social groups at uni. i was struggling to support myself and worked full time as well as studying full time most of the time. and just didnt 'fit in' to the other young people studying with lots of support etc. was very isolating a lot of the time.
Have you spoken to your uni's career info people or is there a uni counselling centre? i think when i went it was called student services or something and they had a whole heap of services that could help students with different ideas/options. Is there something that you have developed a passion for that could lead in a particular direction you might want to go?

Re: sick of this sh*t

Hey @Former-Member
I guess you can relate to the stuff i've posted about on here i guess. Uni has been hit and miss with regards to everything. Most of the times its been an individual thing due to the nature of what i study. Its also very broad so the career element is quite vague.
All this requires effort. Effort i dont have at this point due to my mental health etc.
The careers people are rather useless.
At this point i just dont care. I think im just gonna take it easy.

Re: sick of this sh*t

Its a shame that the careers people havent been very helpful @MDT I wish that things could be better...
I struggle with planning for the long term/future as well.. depression sucks the point or will out of everything some times... Here listening.

Re: sick of this sh*t

They only do 15min sessions and you need to know what you want to get out of the session before going in. I have no idea what to do. Not gonna waste my time with them.

What have you found works for you? Are you still at uni? Or did you graduate/defer?

Im just overtired and exhausted despite getting enough sleep.

Im also sick of psychologists telling me i have it good... makes no difference..

Im so anxious and depressed atm

Re: sick of this sh*t

no, i graduated a while ago now @MDT - I did swap out of my orginial study plan because i realised it wasnt really going anywhere and swapped into the thing that I said i would NEVER do! but it was my perfect fit in the end.
hmmm psychologists telling you you have it good might be missing the point somehow.. when you have mental illness its kind of impossible to just enjoy that... kind of like saying well youhave it good ... now go run on that broken leg!
hmmm disappointed that the uni counsellors etc are not really as helpful as they could be. Wondering what other options there could be.. would you defer or swap into something else?
I went to a training day recently that talked about 'asking the right questions' of yourself. one was 'if there were absolutely no barriers to anything what would you want to do?' or something like that. i had a pretty instant answer which was related to just not wanted to be doing what i was doing! but thought about it more and a few different things came up... some which surprised me.
