Re: not coping

that first question is a table and come up very weird on here so ill just explain it @Sans911 surprisingly i remembered a few of them

1.Basic word strucure.

they want me to break down each medical term into its meaning, prefix, root, combining vowel, and suffix.

There was 10 of them but im only stuck on 3.

1. Dermatitis- ive already got the meaning and the suffix but how do i break the rest down? Derm i would say is the root word but what about the the leftover (at) or would you just put the (a) as a combining vowel?

2. Polydipsia. i have the meaning but i have no idea how to break it down..

3. Hypoglycaemia- i think i might have this one but just want to check. ice already got the meaning. the way ive broken it down is hypo (prefix) glyc (root) anemia (suffix). is that how it would be broken down? Glyco is usually the term for sugar so im not 100% sure..

the other words were:

lymphoma, hyperthyroidism, rhinoplasty, hysterectomy, arthroscopy, myorrhaphy and arthralgia but ive got those ones 🤞

Why do I offer to help you with these things @outlander ? Lol- you make my brain work!!!

Re: not coping

Polydipsia - word derives from the greek poludipsios (very thristy) which is polus (much, many) and dipsa (thirst) hope that helps

Re: not coping

Ok, Derma is actually the root word-relates to a layer of the skin. Itis- means inflammation and is the suffix. So you were absolutely correct that 'a' is the combing word. I am not sure of the relevance of it being a vowel

Re: not coping

thanks @Snowie
do you think poly would go as a root word and the dipsia would go as a suffix? 🤔

In response to: Re: not coping

Re: not coping

So poly is the prefix meaning many or much. The suffix dipsia relates to thirst.

I feel like the Greek father in My Big Fat Greek Wedding. You know when he breaks downs everything to a Greek meaning. : )

@outlander

@Former-Member I hope you are getting a bit of a giggle out of this. I am not sure if you have seen that movie but it is quite funny
