Re: not coping

I'm just a bit more triggered and upset with my mother @outlander. She said some hurtful and invalidating things to me yesterday following on about what I posted Monday. I just feel she's put her own feelings and need for approval above my own needs and level of discomfort. I thought I could ignore it all and push it away but I can't. Bringing up how I feel with my mother won't make me feel better, I'll just get more and more angry. But right now I'm so conflicted because I'm trying to be that nice daughter, yet I am so angry and hurt.

I actually have contacted a specialist service for some urgent counselling. It's only 4 sessions but it might be enough. Waiting on approval. Regular counselling is a 6 to 9 month wait!

Re: not coping

im sorry about your mother and the way she acts. i know its not the same thing but i understand abit because of my own mother. its hard to be that nice and caring daughter esp when its the last thing we feel.
You have every right to feel hurt and angry. im sorry that you have gone through so much too. @Sans911

Im glad that you contacted a service for urgent counselling, i hope that youll be approved quickly. 4 sessions isnt much but hopefully it will be enough to set you on a better path for now. 6-9 month wait is ridiculous! can you get the gp mhcp up and running so you can get in to another counsellor quicker and/or more regularly?

Re: not coping

My mother rang just now about the car insurance (she's had some problems). I didn't really want to talk to her much.

I think I'll be OK with the 4 sessions that they might offer. I can wait for the other sessions. I've been not dealing with it for almost 40 years. I just need to get this stuff out of my system. The wait will give me time to pysch myself up to dealing with the problem.

Re: not coping

im not surprised you dont really want to talk to her much atm @Sans911 sounds like you need abit of space from her for now just as a breather.

do you know how long it normally takes to hear back about whether youve been approved?
